After not completing any builds in 2024, I was determined to get something off the bench this year.  I bought a cheap open kit off the auction site, thinking it would be something simple that I could knock out quickly.

I cleared a couple of more elaborate projects off the bench and started the prep on this one.  It was then that I noticed someone had trimmed off the door handles.  No biggie, I thought. I'll just shave the whole thing and use it to practice painting.  After sanding and priming, I went through my Tamiya spray cans and settled on Racing Green. Love the color, love the '63 Corvette.  But not together 😄

That came out ok, so I moved on to discover that I was missing one of the rear bumperettes.  Thanks to a trade with a member here, I got another chrome tree.  I dechromed everything and painted the bumpers, taillights and ignition shield with Revell Chrome.  Then realized I was also missing the steering wheel/column, and the fan belt.  🫤  After buying some spares, I realized I should have just bought another kit altogether, but here we are.

Slotted mags are from the AMT Avanti, dechromed and painted with Tamiya aluminum, with big and little Firestones from AMT parts pack.  Overall, I got the look I wanted, but I'm still not sold on the color.  Thanks for looking.

Came out great.  I feel your pain on buying an "open box" kit that ends up missing several small parts for no apparent reason.

Not a fan of the green either but otherwise nice work.👍 Those wheels look great on it. First thing I do when I get a second hand kit is go through the instructions and put a tiny check mark beside all the parts I find in the box.
