ismaelg Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 (edited) Hello, This is IT. The holiest of Holy grails. The one and only. The kit built with my heart, not my hands. Most likely my favorite single car of all time. I was supposed to retire from the hobby after this one This was finished last year. It is and will most likely always be my best and favorite build. Can you feel I like it? 1957 Corvette SS http://www.puertoriconet.com/images/SS/DSCF0002.JPG http://www.puertoriconet.com/images/SS/DSCF0013.JPG More pics here: https://race-car-models.proboards.com/thread/2569/best-model-1957-corvette-ss I want to take better pics of this and write an article, so stay tuned..... Thanks, Edited March 12, 2023 by ismaelg
mrglubaum Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 WOW! I've loved that car since it was new! I always thought someone should have made a plastic kit of it. Your build and display really do justice to the car!
purvissp Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 Amen, that is really nice. Your detail is amazing. Those photos on the wall must be pretty small. They sure add a realistic touch to your display.
BIGTRUCK Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 I can see it like you posted it yesterday,,,,truly one to be proud of.
cruz Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 Maken Biscuit brother, nice job  Peposo 8)
mhadman Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 I have looked forward to seeing your builds since i opened up the first post... this build is incredible...i hope to be able to build like this at some point.
Irvin Arter Jr. Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 We are not worthy! Great car and build
Dave Toups Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Great Job Ismael! That's definitely a rare kit! Andy's website says that only about 150 were made. I remember seeing the master at a MAMA meeting when Gary McNutt started on it. He carved the body from balsa wood! He cut flat pieces of wood in the rough shapes and laminated them together. I have a photo around here somewhere, but I can't find it. That was probably 16 or 17 years ago! Dave
MrObsessive Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Beautiful Job Ismael, and I dittto what Lee said! Can you imagine a plastic kit with all the aluminum bodywork and chassis understructure?? I have some photos of Chevrolet building that car back in '57..............It came from a Collectible Automobile issue years ago. It shows a LOT of detail from the engine, to the bodywork opened up showing all the trusses and structure underneath.

Dave Dave, I'd love to see the picture if you ever find it. Have you heard from Gary lately? I haven't heard from him in about a year. Thanks,
Dave Toups Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 I'll look around for the photo, but it's probably buried under a ton of stuff. Gary moved away some years ago, so he doesn't get to the meetings any more. The only time I see him is at the Toledo NNL, but he wasn't there this year.
MikeBoyle Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Ok Izzy, you can post the picture of you model now!

Guest Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Very nice work Ismael! You nailed the look of the real car. I hope you're kidding about retiring. It would be a shame to not be able to see your great work.
Danno Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Absolutely stunning model, Izzy! One of my all-time favorite cars, too. Thank you so much for sharing your spectacular build.

Jon Cole Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Way to set the WayBack machine to 2006, Mr. Peabody! Ironically, the post is so old, I'm not even sure if Ismael visits this site anymore (wish he did) Beautiful car tho!
High octane Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 What an awesome build and why would you retire from the hobby? Your building skills are great and perhaps and inspiration to others.
