Is Dupli-color clear 1k a good product for clearing models? Any advice on using product -yea or naa  muchly appreciated. Thank everyone in advance-Larry

I've used it with good results. You should only use it over other duplicolor paints, it will wrinkle most other brands. You also need to be mindful of the humidity, duplicolor in general doesn't like very humid conditions and will blush if the humidity is too high. I've switched almost exclusively to duplicolor paints, you can get great results as long as you work within the limitations of the product.

Duplicolor has two different types of clear, an acrylic lacquer, and an enamel clear...be sure to read the label carefully !!

I have had good luck with the acrylic lacquer if light coats, 3 - 4 are used.

I've gotten decent results with the 1K clear over Duplicolor lacquer, but only when applied once.  Absolutely no luck recoating the 1K, especially with wet sanding the first coat.  Can that be done, and what would the procedure be?

I took only used it over their paint. Since I ran out of it, I use a SEM 1K clear, some Hobby Lobby and Extreme Lacquers clear.

That's what I use.

It's not going to give you a super shiny, "dipped" look like people seem to prefer these days with 2Ks and the like, but I regard that as a good thing.

Polishing is inevitably going to give you a more realistic looking finish in my opinion anyway, so several coats of clear lacquer, followed by cutting and polishing is my technique.

The Duplicolor Perfect Match "Protective Clear coat" in a rattle can is tough as nails, lays down thinly so that detail hide is virtually non-existent, and polishes out to a exemplary finish.

It can be sprayed over any good quality lacquer paint.

I use it over Duplicolor, MCW and Scale Finishes lacquers all of the time with zero issues.
