JollySipper Posted October 26 Posted October 26 Hey, everyone...... A couple of days ago i subscribed to AdBlock Plus' premium service. Since they have ended support for Win10 computers, I thought it wouldn't hurt to have that extra protection. I'm sure it's something in my settings, but I can't get youtube videos to play since adding the adblock. Any ideas? I've tried changing a couple settings, but they just won't play.........
1930fordpickup Posted October 26 Posted October 26 Could your problem be on You tubes end? They love ads
JollySipper Posted October 26 Author Posted October 26 Youtube will play with the blocker turned off........ Before I went premium the videos would play just fine, with adblock on.
bobthehobbyguy Posted October 26 Posted October 26 I googled it and YouTube does not allow adblockers. It is in the terms of service. They want you to pay for no ads.
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 26 Posted October 26 (edited) ^^^ What Bob said. They've been cracking down on ad-blockers for a while now, but it's kinda spotty whether they shut you down or not. I just ponied up the few bucks a month ($13 or so) to see everything on YT ad-free. I hate giving Alphabet any money, but for now, YT is pretty much the only game in town. JollySipper Posted October 26 Author Posted October 26 Thanks, Guys..... It's funny though, as one reason they give to upgrade the blocker is to be able to view YT without ads!

Kinda bait-and-switch on the part of AdBlock...which has doubled it's monthly fee recently too. PS: Ad-blockers really don't give unsupported computers any more "protection". All they do is remove a source of annoyance for those of us who hate the ad's intrusiveness in everything, everywhere. "BUY BUY BUY THIS OVERPRICED THING/SERVICE YOU CAN'T DO WITHOUT...NOWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!" What you need now more than ever is a good cost-effective anti-virus that's not bloated with useless garbage and tracking. 1
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 26 Posted October 26 You can also try a different browser if you're using Chrome. Alphabet/Google/Chrome/YooToob are all the same entity, essentially, and work together to more effectively thwart ad-blockers.

Linux + Firefox + Duckduckgo (can filter out AI) + uBlock Origin= no damn ads. No google either. Edited October 26 by Big Messer 1
stinkybritches Posted October 28 Posted October 28 Brave browser is another with built-in ad block. It's what I use 97% of the time. No problems with YouTube. 1
dragstk Posted October 28 Posted October 28 I will second the set up that Jose is running. I run the same set up and have had no issues or ads 1
