JollySipper Posted Sunday at 03:52 PM Posted Sunday at 03:52 PM Hey, everyone...... A couple of days ago i subscribed to AdBlock Plus' premium service. Since they have ended support for Win10 computers, I thought it wouldn't hurt to have that extra protection. I'm sure it's something in my settings, but I can't get youtube videos to play since adding the adblock. Any ideas? I've tried changing a couple settings, but they just won't play.........
1930fordpickup Posted Sunday at 04:04 PM Posted Sunday at 04:04 PM Could your problem be on You tubes end? They love ads
JollySipper Posted Sunday at 04:30 PM Author Posted Sunday at 04:30 PM Youtube will play with the blocker turned off........ Before I went premium the videos would play just fine, with adblock on.
bobthehobbyguy Posted Sunday at 04:32 PM Posted Sunday at 04:32 PM I googled it and YouTube does not allow adblockers. It is in the terms of service. They want you to pay for no ads.
Ace-Garageguy Posted Sunday at 06:04 PM Posted Sunday at 06:04 PM (edited) ^^^ What Bob said. They've been cracking down on ad-blockers for a while now, but it's kinda spotty whether they shut you down or not. I just ponied up the few bucks a month ($13 or so) to see everything on YT ad-free. I hate giving Alphabet any money, but for now, YT is pretty much the only game in town. Edited Sunday at 06:14 PM by Ace-Garageguy
JollySipper Posted Sunday at 06:10 PM Author Posted Sunday at 06:10 PM Thanks, Guys..... It's funny though, as one reason they give to upgrade the blocker is to be able to view YT without ads!

Kinda bait-and-switch on the part of AdBlock...which has doubled it's monthly fee recently too. PS: Ad-blockers really don't give unsupported computers any more "protection". All they do is remove a source of annoyance for those of us who hate the ad's intrusiveness in everything, everywhere. "BUY BUY BUY THIS OVERPRICED THING/SERVICE YOU CAN'T DO WITHOUT...NOWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!" What you need now more than ever is a good cost-effective anti-virus that's not bloated with useless garbage and tracking. 1
Ace-Garageguy Posted Sunday at 06:21 PM Posted Sunday at 06:21 PM You can also try a different browser if you're using Chrome. Alphabet/Google/Chrome/YooToob are all the same entity, essentially, and work together to more effectively thwart ad-blockers.

Linux + Firefox + Duckduckgo (can filter out AI) + uBlock Origin= no damn ads. No google either. Edited Sunday at 08:47 PM by Big Messer 1
stinkybritches Posted yesterday at 12:51 AM Posted yesterday at 12:51 AM Brave browser is another with built-in ad block. It's what I use 97% of the time. No problems with YouTube. 1
dragstk Posted yesterday at 01:04 AM Posted yesterday at 01:04 AM I will second the set up that Jose is running. I run the same set up and have had no issues or ads 1
