Wagonmaster110 Posted Friday at 10:33 PM Posted Friday at 10:33 PM I am wondering if there has been any discussion on the 2026 Cannonball run CB? Tim
oldcarfan Posted Saturday at 01:52 AM Posted Saturday at 01:52 AM Not that I've heard, but I have been thinking about it a little. Maybe someone can refresh our memories on what the past themes were? Last year was Resto-Mods, 2023 was Run What You Brung, 2022 was birth year, and that's about where my memory drops off!
Mattilacken Posted Saturday at 02:06 PM Posted Saturday at 02:06 PM Good that you started this thread! I won’t be able to host next year due to a new work situation. So it would be good if some one would be up for doing the hosting as well. Not that much that needs to be done but still some. Regarding themes, there have been a great deal of ideas in the past threads for previous years as mentioned. But new ideas are always welcome! btw 2021 was Race cars in disguise.
tim08 Posted Sunday at 04:04 AM Posted Sunday at 04:04 AM Wagons maybe? If it's been done it was probably a while back.
stitchdup Posted Sunday at 09:40 AM Posted Sunday at 09:40 AM hows about going off paved roads? or the carrera panamerica route from anchorage to ushuala. a mix of surfaces and a section with no road whatsoever in the darien gap. its been done in a caddy hearse before. or there lots of songs about cars that could be a theme
Mattilacken Posted Sunday at 01:46 PM Posted Sunday at 01:46 PM Great ideas. How a bout cars from the White screen? Movie cars, no limits. 1
White Rabbit Posted Sunday at 05:00 PM Posted Sunday at 05:00 PM Hello all! A few ideas: Cannonball Run, 1980s edition. The last official Run took place in 1979; but what would it have looked like if continued into the '80s? Run-What-You Brung Part 2. As Yates so famously, (or infamously), stated: "The only rule: there are no rules." "Work" Vehicles. Entries disguised as work vehicles but prepared for the Run.
oldcarfan Posted Sunday at 08:15 PM Posted Sunday at 08:15 PM Some good ideas so far! Run What You Brung, or off road, or work vehicles any of those would be cool. Movie cars would be fun too, but I'm not good at doing replicas mine always end up looking like they were "Based On A True Story" rather than actually being a replica. This might be too complicated, but how about a 'Low-Budget Build" thing? Sort of like LeMons. I don't think that's been done has it? Set a price limit, say $2025 for the basic vehicle. It could be any vehicle as long as you could find one under that price. You'd pick an example of your chosen vehicle on Marketplace or Ebay or the local newspaper, and do a screen shot of a super cheap 1:1 example as proof. This is what I was thinking, but any vehicle would work. Maybe allow engine transplants, body work, even body swaps onto a different chassis, brakes and safety and whatever else as long as a good low budget shop could theoretically do it on their own from used parts.
tim08 Posted yesterday at 01:20 AM Posted yesterday at 01:20 AM After I posted the wagon idea I got to thinking. Back in the early to mid 2000s when bmc(brians model cars) was still going, heck, I didn't know what group builds were, but if I remember, they were just finishing up a tri 5 chevy build. Right about the same time that was finishing up I think I think the next theme was, Drag it to the Track, or something like that. Think they ment with trailer or chains. Just a thought.
tim08 Posted yesterday at 01:33 AM Posted yesterday at 01:33 AM No, this could be a different build, strike this.

MeatMan Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Well, the theme is to mimic the Cannonball Run route, so the track idea, and the off road idea would mean moving away from that. Perhaps its time for that, I dunno.
oldcarfan Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Has there ever been an 'Unlimited' Cannonball? The idea would be a vehicle you would build and race if you won the lottery and money was no object.
