R. Thorne Posted Sunday at 02:41 AM Posted Sunday at 02:41 AM I somehow ended up with 3 Fremont resin sedan bodies a while back and just recently acquired a couple Moebius Dave Strickler kits. I always preferred the looks of the sedan, so, hey, why not chop the hardtop off and graft the sedan top on. I would like to build the Kentucky Colonels car, the Grand Spaulding blown car or the Bill Flynn Yankee Peddler car, but no decals are currently available for these cars, so we will see what happens. It may just be a no name car. Anyway, my humble efforts at the surgery involved are presented here. 4
R. Thorne Posted Sunday at 02:50 AM Author Posted Sunday at 02:50 AM Some additional cutting, then some ca glue, then Tamiya putty, sanding, more putty, etc. 3
R. Thorne Posted Sunday at 02:53 AM Author Posted Sunday at 02:53 AM Closer, now back to my Agatha Christy book, while, hopefully the last batch of putty dries overnight. 4
R. Thorne Posted Sunday at 10:32 PM Author Posted Sunday at 10:32 PM Some more sanding with the Ammo by Mig sanding stick mainly (wish someone made a round version of them). May just make my own out of 1/8” styrene rod and some foam backed sandpaper. Cleaned the top with some 70% alcohol wipes and put some primer on to show all the bad places up. 1
R. Thorne Posted Sunday at 10:41 PM Author Posted Sunday at 10:41 PM Showed the wrong picture of the Grand Spaulding blown car. This is the sedan car. 1
bytownshaker Posted Monday at 12:33 AM Posted Monday at 12:33 AM Ron I don't know if you noticed that the Sedans front wheels were not moved forward only the rears on the Grand Spaulding car.
M W Elky Posted Monday at 12:49 AM Posted Monday at 12:49 AM That’s a ambitious project Joe at freemont resin makes the Grand Spaulding decals for the red sedan I got a set from him and they look really nice

Sharp eyes, Edgar. In the 2nd pic with the Gary Dyer signature, it looks like the front end has been extended, however. 1
Rob Hall Posted Monday at 06:29 PM Posted Monday at 06:29 PM Neat..I seem to recall that Moebius was planning an AWB '65 Dodge Coronet 2dr sedan in addition to the AWB ht that came out a while back..

I sent him an email to see if they are still available. Not listed on his eBay site.

I think I remember reading that the sedan was not one of the factory done altered wheel base cars, but that's coming from an old man lol 1

Amblewagon did the original 12 cars and they all were 2 door hardtops EXCEPT Bill Flynns Yankee Peddler was the only sedan done by them AFTER the original 12 were done Any others were privateer shop conversions The red Mr Norm sedan car was done 1st moving rear axle only at the beginning. But the Ft axle was moved a short time later The blue/silver hardtop, (Then red silver ) was the Lindamood Color me Gone car Norm also owned the Butch Leal 2 door hardtop car as well. But it was crashed on the streets of Chicago and parted out before it ever hit the dragstrip as a Mr Norm car livery. As to what order the 3 cars were owned/raced ,,,,, I have no idea EXCEPT I think the sedan was the last one. 2
gtx6970 Posted Monday at 11:04 PM Posted Monday at 11:04 PM Ps, Fred Cady made a sheet to do either of the Norm AFX cars And I think Southern Motorsports now owns the rights to the Fred Cady decal line and was doing them Not sure if they still are or not 1
R. Thorne Posted Monday at 11:12 PM Author Posted Monday at 11:12 PM Great info, Bill. Thank you for responding.
R. Thorne Posted yesterday at 10:50 PM Author Posted yesterday at 10:50 PM Reamed out the collectors and put some FusionFirm on. 1
R. Thorne Posted 23 hours ago Author Posted 23 hours ago Worked on my aftermarket grille from FewSpruesLoose. Got it loose from its mounting with my irreplaceable pliars, then brushed on some FusionFirm. I was concerned that it might fill up the tiny holes in the grille, but then I remembered how thin it was when I put some on a 53 Olds resin bumper and it showed all the imperfections. 1
Brutalform Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Nice project going on here, with the sedan conversion. That seller on eBay has some nice grills. I bought a couple of those for a few of my cars.
Hemifever Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Wow Ron that's a heck of an undertaking, but it looks great so far. Never heard of Fusion Firm, but it looks good on the headers. Grill is awesome. That Nova stocker you built a while back was the inspiration for my current stocker build, and you provided some great research pics in that build also. Always look forward to your builds.
