Nice start there, thank you for posting! If you want to be a real stickler for details. Remember that on the white Lamborghini, it faded to red just where the skirts rolled downward from the water-based paint. Also, if your model has opening doors, there was red inside the door jam's as well. This was clearly seen in the movie when they pulled up against the speed limit sign and the lady got out to change it.

Thank you for posting your start! Can you please provide a picture of the model's box? Thank you!

Yeah, give me a day or two and I'll try to post some box art. I'm having pc issues. Lap top has a bug and can't log on and the new broad band is kicking me off my desk top or else it's got some other issue. Not sure, I'll have to figure that one out. I also need a electric fan motor/cage for this car. I was painting one of mine and it too flight on me. I posted in the wanted section too. The pic of the chassis is for the red one. I am still waiting on my other kit to show up and I'm going to use it for the white one. I'll have both colors when I'm done. And yes, I was already going to paint the inside trim red on the white car. I don't have the movie, so if you have a good pic of where the red trim ends and the white water base begins, I sure could use one. Thanks.

Since I can't tell the difference between the different Countachs with the exception of the uglier older 400's, it does not matter to me as long as it represents the movie car well enough to say, "Hey, that was in Cannonball Run II!"

I did not notice any red trim other than just the inside of the door jam's as they opened up the car. I do have the movie, but not sure how to capture a picture of it for you as it's a digital movie in my Itunes collection. I think the white fades to red just as the side skirt start to curve downwards to the chassis point.

After all, it is your model so you built it as you wish, I'm not trying to give rules here even though it may sound like it. Only suggestions!

I'm more interested in an ACURATE black Countach as seen in the first movie since that one completed the race!

Remember, in the second movie the ladies kept having trouble with their cars braking down on theme?

I got my countach kit in the mail yesterday! Fujimi does some really good detail work(now i understand why you like them so much Fuji! ) the only thing i dont like about the kit is there is hardly any engine detail at all ;) the back hatch lifts up and all that, but im not even sure if they have an engine tray

I'm trying to upload some pictures to my computer but its not wanting to right now :P

Also Fuji, the only real difference in between the early countach's and the later ones(like in the cannon ball run movies) is the engine's. The earlier ones had smaller ones, and the latter ones had monstrous engines  the big difference in between the 4000 and the 5000 is the wing, engine, fog lights, and options.

I do need some help finding parts(I plan on doing more detailing to the interior since it doesnt have a engine) I some help locating the three whip antenna's that were on the bonnet, the CB radio, i also noticed during the fight scene and the race starting scene that on the drivers side of the cockpit, it had a carphone. It just wouldnt be the same car without the car phone, Does anybody have any leads on those items?

Thanks,Jeff.

When i get ready to start doing the bodywork i'll post a picture of the multi piece doors(i want to make rolled down windows  )

Thanks!

As for car-phone, I wouldn't know except to scratch build one, should be a simple "brick" really. I don't think one would hardly notice it in the model anywhere unless it's really, really good.

For the antennas, I learned a trick from Tamiya's WRC cars. I suggest getting a lighter if you don't already have one, and heat up the straight piece of sprue from the plastic tree that the parts come on. Cut a piece off, and heat it. As your heating it, it will start to melt, or ooze. As it oozes, stretch it. It will start making a nice piece of antenna. First one might not work, but several tries you should get it no problem. Or, I think your local hobby shop, if you have a descent Hobby Town, should have plastic tubes and such of which you might find the right size wire or plastic wire to make your antenna from that.

Keep us posted! I'm nervous about building my KS Countach as it's so well detailed. I think being the enthusiast model it's more detailed than your Countach as it has a special display stand just for the engine alone! This may be one of those models that just sits in the box and never gets built.

Oh, if you can find it. Fujimi does make an accessories kit which includes a bunch of interior junk and it may have a cell phone of which you can use. Plus, I think some of Fujimi's model kit's such as their FC3S's has what look's like a CB radio in it's accessories packet.

Well, I thought the only diff between a 5000 and a Q was the engine got 4 valves per cyl and a hp increase. And yes, some digital pics would be great. Just snap some with a camera and post them up that way.

Mine is a Fujimi too. And it has an engine. I posted the pic on the other page. It kinda scared me at first. It's got so much detail and small parts. You could make the antennas from wire and paint them as needed.

That's how I felt about my Fujimi. And it has an engine stand too in case you want to build it as a curb side and show the engine.

Yea i saw the one you posted, I think the one I have is a different kit though.

I thought about those "bread ties" from loafes of bread for the antenna's but i'll have to check the scale on them,

Yeah, I'd check for scale. Most of that wire is pretty small. And trash bag ties seems too big.

So anybody working on any other cars from the movies? There are plenty of cars to choose from! Ferrari's, Porsche's, Austin Martin? Mad-Dog's truck?

"Mad-Dog, you are going to take the short cut to the freeway ain't yea?"

Mark Taylor, I just read your last bit there. I have the Fujimi Enthusiast model of the Koenig Specials Lamborghini Countach in 1/24 scale. But I am reserving that for my KS collection and it will not be used for the Cannonball Countach. It was purchased for exactly what it is, a KS Countach!

I'd like to see more cars in the movies being made guy's, let's keep this build-off going! I'm excited to see the Countach line up, but let's have more variety!

I just happened to have the 5000 at the time this came up so I thought I'd jump on build off wagon. I don't have anything else in the stash right now. And I've stalled on my build. I've got to pick up some paint this weekend so I can get back at it. I also want to do the red 5000 from Speed Zone minus those damned running lights on the front bumper though. And my 5000 Q is an EM14 kit from Fujimi. I'm also looking for a new laptop and some performance parts for my race car this weekend, so after picking up some paint for this 5000, I might not be bale to add to my stash for a couple weeks. I've got a stack of cars coming to build some race cars out of anyways. Mostly Fords, one Charger and a Chapparel.

WOW, 5 pages of BS, and only two pics of a model. Kinda wasted space if you ask me.

Who asked you anyway?

Better this than another generic "rat rod" i hate that term anyway, give me a good traditional rod damnit!

That point could have been a little more tactful in it's delivery, but it is a good point: post some pictures! Some of us are curious to see these builds happen! ;)

Okay, did anybody notice the amount of exhaust pipes on that particular car in those photos? What the heck is up with that? The one in the movie certainly didn't have that many!

And I think we have enough Countach's already. This is the Cannonball Run build-off, not the Cannonball Run "Countach" build-off! I appreciate the enthusiasm for an awesome car, but let's have some variety here people! Thank you, love yea all!

Well, slap me with a wet noodle I was wrong! I just never noticed that many exhaust pipes in the movie! Anybody else?

Take a look at this link for it's restoration.

Post them up and lets see them. I was looking for other cars to build this weekend, but my HT and HL did not have anything that fit this build off. I'll just have to work on my 5000.

I dunno about the rest of U but I've just been thru this thread and hey where's the photos of the all the cars that took part, there seems to be a lot of talk but no action. As soon as get my car I will put it up this is so you can't say like U have said to one other postee who mentioned that there's no photos, how long has this thread been going for now, when does it actually start and when will it officially finish, need to kno so I can build a good car or just a OOB car.

Dingo

Just to add some model pictures...

Obviously this one was done as a Bond car (specifically the Goldeneye car, note the BMT14A number plate) I have a dozen or so Airfix and Doyusha Goldfinger Astons...one of them will be a Cannonball car but I haven't gotten around to any except this one.

This was built in a single afternoon to test the parts fit for later builds and to see if I could make AMT '65 Riviera wires work. That's what this one is on, with the kit tires. Figures are Corgi Icons

Or the Corgi figures also for the Goldeneye movie too?
