cruz Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 I had a good friend send this decal sheet of a '71 Dodge Demon. My question is, can anyone out there print this on a decal sheet so that I may use it on my resin model? I am willing to pay anyone. I need at least 4 copies, just name the price..... It is a 1/25 scale kit. Hosted on Fotki
Guest Mustang3.8 Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 I'll see what I can do. I've got Testors Decal maker. As soon as I get some decal paper, i'll give it a shot.

Bernard Kron Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 (edited) If there are white areas on your decals you would be best off having decals made by someone with an Alps or Oki printer that can print white ink. The same is true of metallic colors such as silver or gold. I've made my own decals using an inkjet printer and the results are OK but the colors aren't very intense. This is particularly important considering the large areas of black on the decal sheet you're showing. Also, if you have white areas you must use white decal paper, not clear and cut them out right against the printed area. There are no transparent areas when you use white paper. If I recall correctly Scale Models by Chris used to offer custom decal printing using an Alps printer ( http://www.scalemodelingbychris.com/ ) I don't know if they still do but it's worth an inquiry. A quick search on the web came up with these links of companies offering scale model custom decal printing using Oki or Alps printers: http://elstrains.com/ http://www.parkes682decals.piczo.com/?cr=5 http://www.precisionlabels.com/colours.html?new Edited June 25, 2009 by gbk1
Aaronw Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Simply scanning it won't work for an ALPS, it would have to be completely redrawn. You could use a sheet of laser printer decal paper with a copy machine to duplicate the sheet but only if you put it on a white car.
Modelmartin Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 That is a Fred Cady decal by the look of it. Why don't you just write to him at his P.O. box (get that from his old ads in SAE or Model Cars)and see if he still has them in stock. He has a lot of inventory and is happy to fill orders. It would be a lot easier than reprinting.

chris coller Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Marcos, did you try Keith Marks decals? He prints muscle cars sheets as well.
george 53 Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Andy,Marcos, I do beleive Fred Cady's been out of buisness for at least 2/3 years. I have seen some of his sheets on the 'Bay, but to too often. I was under the impression that he had sold off most of his inventory, and if you didn't get 'em when he was selling them out, you MAY be out of luck. I'm in the same boat, as I have that SAME kit from Model Round-Up!, and I could use a set too! Hope it goes well.
cruz Posted June 25, 2009 Author Posted June 25, 2009 Seeing what's happening here one might get rich just by selling the Demon decal sheet if they were to be succesful in printing one on decal paper!! I tried Keith Marks, he doesn't have them.....

Canada, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, in addition to the USA. I went to the Decal Man web site ( http://www.decal-man.com/index1.htm ) because of the specific reference to car decals. He has an excellent step by step on how to order custom made decals from him ( http://www.decal-man.com/customdecals.htm ) and says the following: How much does it cost? I charge $35 to produce a set of decals. A set of decals is defined as the door and roof numbers, logos, sponsorship lettering, hood markings (429 C.I.) and driver name. I do not include fender markings or other decals that are readily available. Money must be paid up front. This should give you an idea of costs in general. Edited June 29, 2009 by gbk1
