i'm debating on building a rat rod. there are so many different ways of "ratting" one out. show me how you did it and how it came out. B)

Here are a couple rats I've posted elsewhere in the forum. The third is a montage of a rat I built a few years back.

I've got others, but thought I'd share these.

did you "z" the frame ?

yes I did...not very hard at all, don't have any photos of how I did it.

there have been many threads on this forum for "z"ing frames...just utilize the search feature and ya should find info fairly easily

good luck

thanks did you also use the engine that came with it and did you chop it?

I used the flathead engine that came in the kit and i did chop it about scale 4"

This is The Tube Rat, a rat rod I built for the 2009 NNL West "Rats and Cats" theme.

This build was a pure Parts Box special with a scratch frame and 100% spare parts. It started with a Photoshop “sketch†of a concept for an ultra-light tube framed radical rod based on a leftover Revell ’29 Ford pickup cab I had:

hey that's pretty cool lookin gbk1. so you scratch built it 100%. wow ! I just don't kno how you would get into it. i guess i'm lucky i just bought Revell's 32' ford sedan street rod that i'm gonna "rat".

This will be my first one that i'm gonna chop and "z" the frame with. i just need to learn how.

Get out the Xacto saw and start cutting!........ B)

ha it's still warm from cutting the gas tank off ! i want to get the stance right first. this might be the first one i chop .........or not.........maybe........... i dunno. B) i am a little worried about chopping for the first time. and the front won't sit right. i might have to double "Z" the frame because i want the grill and engine to sit right, but if i "Z" it the first time the grill will sit to high. AAAHHHHHHHHHHH. hopefully it will work out.

does any body have any advise?

wow i really like this one. what kit did you use? and are you gonna chop it?

Revell 26 Sedan. Not chopped but built from scrounged parts. Slant 6, scratchbuilt frame.

have you got any progress on it?

The wheels are red now.

Seriously, I'd like to get back to it but summers are busy time. Perhaps this winter.

Can't go wrong with a 32' sedan.

Here's one i started quite some time ago and never finished, it just sits on my shelf as is until i decide to finish it one day, maybe. Its been chopped, sectioned and channeled.
