tuffone20 Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 (edited) I have been working on this on and off for some time now and thought I'd share it with everyone here. I still have a lot of stuff to do on it, but I think it's coming along pretty good. Let know what you all think of it so far. I replaced the 360 with a 440 6 pack. Edited October 1, 2009 by tuffone20
dwc43 Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Looks good so far. With that hood and bead locks, it kinda reminds me of those SODA, or SCORE racers they run on those closed course tracks.
diymirage Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 love the diamond plate bedliner and the way it is sitting just a hair lower on the rear makes it look like it is taking of very nice
LVZ2881 Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 I dont like it . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . only because its on your bench and not mine!!! great job.....if only I could find a couple short and regular beds for myself....got a couple LRS kits that need to be built!
tuffone20 Posted September 30, 2009 Author Posted September 30, 2009 Well I took this model back out of the box and started working on it and got around to putting some paint on it. Take a look and let and let me know what you think? Still trying different wheels on it to see what looks best. Marty
Terror Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Don't see to many trucks standing tall now a days. The blue and white combo looks sweet.I like the front rims better.Nice work, man.
CHR1S619 Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Looking good! I like the wheels from the first post Hope to see it done soon.

tuffone20 Posted September 30, 2009 Author Posted September 30, 2009 were are the 8 lug wheels from? nice color combo. Thanks!! The wheels are from the MPC Dodge 4X4 truck kits. See below photo. These are not my models, but I wish they were!!!
vizio93 Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 IMO i think that your wheels outta be black. i like the front ones, but it think they would look good in black. can't wait to see were you go wit this one
RodneyBad Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Great looking truck Paint looks great too. I haven't seen any blue and white ones b-4. Seen a red and white one tho
tuffone20 Posted October 2, 2009 Author Posted October 2, 2009 Great looking truck Paint looks great too. I haven't seen any blue and white ones b-4. Seen a red and white one tho Yeah for some reason every time I looked at the truck thinking what color I wanted to paint it, I just kept coming up with the blue & white combo that I did. And thanks for all off the feed back guys!! I like the wheels in the 1st photo too, but I only have 4 of them and I want to put in a bed mounted spare and leave the tail gate off. I guess I could buy another set of those wheels?
RS Sport Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 I think white wheels would be better,I think they give it a more "winter" look.
tuffone20 Posted January 21, 2010 Author Posted January 21, 2010 Next month our model clubs theme is going to be Mopar!! So I got this truck back out and started working on it again and I'm working on the exhaust system and thinking of something like this? And I did a little work on the bed.
RodneyBad Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Still looking great. Nice flow thru tail gate and tire rack. I think the Mufflers look too big. maybe some smaller ones? AMTs Pro-street RoadRuner/GTX had some smaller Flowmaster looking ones. This is the way they were on my 1:1 (yes, the T-case is placed wrong but too late now. LOL.) I believe 74 was the last year for a divorced T-case. 75 and Up were married..(mine was a 75) http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=23234&st=0&p=211804&fromsearch=1&#entry211804
Guest Mustang3.8 Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Nice work, Tuffone. You would'nt happen to have any spare Dodge long box parts? All's I need is the box, tailgate, and tail lights.

AMTs Pro-street RoadRuner/GTX had some smaller Flowmaster looking ones. Thanks, I'll have to look and see what else I have as I don't have that kit. I'm hoping this time around I can get this one done. Nice work, Tuffone. You would'nt happen to have any spare Dodge long box parts? All's I need is the box, tailgate, and tail lights. No I don't have any spare ones. I have 2 but am planning on using them, sorry

The paint looks great, the colors are great, and I agree, the stone crushers would give it an updated look, the white wheels look more "period correct". I remember the guys in the 70's used to have the tail pipes exit before the rear tires. I sure wish the "companies" would bring back the old truck models! So many different ways to build them up. Keep the progress pictures coming!
Jon Cole Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Tuffone, fine looking rig you're building. Just hope some 'Legal Beagle' type doesn't reach in that bed, and gash his arm open on the mesh. Maybe a frame or a bar across the top? Keep this build going!

And yeah I'm not done with it yet. And thanks for all the kind words and feed back from everyone. Marty
tuffone20 Posted January 22, 2010 Author Posted January 22, 2010 Ok guys I found some Mufflers that look a lot better, what do you guys think.
tuffone20 Posted January 22, 2010 Author Posted January 22, 2010 Good to see you back on this one Marty. Look forward to seeing it under glass. I like the new mufflers better, but I would run the tail pipes back a little farther and make them come out right in front of the rear tires. Have you decided which wheels you're going to use? I'm going to go with these wheels. And in the photo you can see I left me some room to make changes if needed..
Casey Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 It's a shame MPC converted this kit into a monster truck in the '80s...but it was the '80s. The two-tone whote and blue looks great. I think a set of wagon wheel-type wheels (maybe those in the MPC Mount'n Goat Jeep Commando kit?) would look great on this truck.
WickedWelder Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Looking awesome. i really like the blue&white paint scheme. Where did you get the diamond plate for the bed? did it come with the kit?
