Sorry for linking to my album, but it'd be too many attachments and I can't use image hosting sites on my browser!...

Pictures added below, Thanks to MrObsessive!!

Here is my 57 Chevy that I finished up a short time ago. It's the Revell 57 Chevy 150 "Black Widow" kit. I built it as somewhat of a beater, which was returned to the road with a bit of maintanence. It was weathered with chalk pastels and a few different bottle paints. The color is Dupli-color Hampsted Green. I lowered the car 4 inches from stock, scratchbuilt the mufflers and the PBR can in the engine compartment. I used a jewelry polishing cloth and silver-painted mashing tape on the seat. Discolored epoxy was added to the emblem on the grille and pitting was added to the trim with a "splatter" technique. Other than hiding the mounting pins for the light lenses and some other little touches here and there, the mods mentioned above, it's built out of the box. I always allow any comments, thoughts, criticism, snide remarks, etc....

If anyone has any tips on posting these photos directly from my album into the thread, let me know...

You've got the weathering nailed on this one Ryan! This is just how I saw a LOT of '57 Chevy's as a high schooler in the mid-late '70's!

I truly thank you sir. Doing this is MUCH appreciated. :o My cumputer cannot be updated enough use those image hosting sites for some reason..

Thanks for the compliments guys. However, I might fiddle with the driver's side a bit more. But this was my first attempt at weathering, does anyone see any areas I can approve on? I like building nice shiny cars, but I think I am in love with building these types of cars after doing this one.

Harry- I'm obsessed with little details, and sometimes they are so easy to add but have so much effect on the project. :o

If you have internet access (which obviously you do), then you have the ability to post photos in your posts. It has nothing to do with your computer.

I run a circa 2000 iMac with MacOs 10.3.9 . My brother in law upgraded the internal hard drive or memory or something, but even if I installed a newer Os, I run the risk of the computer being super slow in doing anything. I have Safari 1.3.2, which is the highest that Mac 10.3 can run. Photobucket and the likes have plug-ins or whatever that need to be installed for me to properly see their site, and those plug-ins require Mac 10.4 or higher. Unless I am doing something wrong... I'm not to keen on computer stuff. I am just glad my Dinosaur Mac works good enough.

Download the latest version of Firefox and use that as your browser.

Also download the free Mac OS upgrades to get you up to speed on the latest OS.

Excellent build! The rust is very nicely done as is the whole build.

It can't be a Minnesota car, however, because it still has all of it's lower edges. I had a 57 post 2-dr in high school (74-75)and the sheet metal was GONE half way up to the side chrome. The bottoms of the front fenders flapped in the breeze, too! B)

Sounds like you must have had a '57 with the rare "factory air" option... ;)

  @ Harry!

Modelmartin, I thought about adding a bunch of rust holes to the sheetmetal, but I wanted to try and capture the heavy, discolored surface rust that the Nevada Desert can do to a car. One day, i'll do the holes to a car, like what you speak of. :)

Hey Ryan...nice to see the extra pics of this. Everytime I look at it I see something new. The weathering is a little too realistic though, whenever I look at it I get the urge to go get some sandpaper, my paint gun, and give you a hand fixing it. Nice job...it truly is a work of ART! Aloha...Pete

All I can say about this model is..................

A WORK OF ART!

I have been building weathered and rusted models for 20 years. Been doing it back when it was not respectable in this hobby. For me, and I keep it to myself. With this style getting more popular and respected. I am usually not too empresses with many of these types of builds. They just do not look real to me. So I pass them by. But yours! well lets say that I first saw your avatar on another post and thought that it was your real car. Then going to your profile. Well I saved every one of your pics of this model. I just LOVE IT!

Great job overall specially on your weathering, it's something I am also practicing and learning how to do, you pretty much have it mastered!!!

Hey Pete, I have a Mustang you could come help me with though... LOL

Thanks guys, you're too much. The compliments mean a lot to me guys. I have a 65 Mustang fastback that I plan to rust out pretty good. I'll have to get back to work on that one now that you all have given me more confidence in my weathering! I just need to figure out where i'm moving to first...

Absolutely stunning Ryan!!!!

I see no way you can improve upon your weathering skills.

This looks like the real thing. Best weathered model I have EVER seen!

Can't wait to see more!!
