This is based on a Monogram 427 street Cobra. the wheels are from detail master with the knock-offs fron the Monogram wheels. (some don't know but the knock offs in this kit actually AC logos on them.) The AC 289 was built after the production Cobras ceased using the less expensive 289 engine in the coil spiring 427 chassis. In the process they also deteted the sidepipes in favour of the rear exit exhaust.

Nice Cobra Darin! Those wires look verrrrrrrry familiar! Are they the Detail Masters Borrani's?

Interesting note about the Cobra's...............I didn't know they were making the 289's again after 427 production had stopped.

Actually these are the "custom wire wheels" the Borranis have too many wires for the AC wheels.

Technically this is not a Cobra, as AC didn't have the rights to that name. They simply called it "289". AC continued to build Cobra based cars into 1969

Nice model! Kinda off the subject... but I like the photo backdrop! Pretty simple and effective.

Thanks. the backdrop is particle board painted black. I thought the texture was pretty cool

Thats why I like it... that particle board is the crappiest wood product ever made, but it works so well. Your 3rd photo (high front 3/4) with the bright pool of light looks especially nice. Its funny how that p-board suggest some type of natural scale texture

Actually particle board is the second worst wood product ever made. The first place goes to those flat wooden spoons you got with your ice cream in elementary school that never failed to deposit a splinter in your lip.

Wow. Eight Seven years later this floats to the top again. And still a nice looking build.
