A thought and a thank you

reading all these posts and watching the beautiful work that is done makes me remember my dad and all the stuff he did, how he loved his models, each was his baby, when he was working on one it got all of his attention.. detail was what it was all about, customizing, creating something new from what you already had left over in a box or sneeked from another model.. I know that his models are going for the most part to very loving homes, that is what makes me keep plugging on here. It would have been very easy for me to just sell to a dealer who would have jacked up the price.. I couldn't bring myself to do that.

I open a box that isn't sealed touch the parts look at the instructions take the pictures to list it, feel the rush to build one again.. then close the box and list it. I don't get that rush while listing the sealed boxes.. strange..

I have to say everyone of you that I was able to see a model in progress or built has done beautiful work

Lyn, C'mon girl, DON'T be afraid! Jus get the ol glue out an have at it!!! You KNOW what yer doin already, so it's NOT like yer flyin blind, Besides, you think yer Ol Dad won't be there helpin? Inna way, HE'D be buildin it TOO! Energy CANNOT be destroyed, only converted, so he's still around you. Let him know your gonna build one an just see how well it'll turn out with him helpin ya. George you Sir are an awesome soul! oh I feel his energy, I think I felt it in the form of his hand against the back of my head when I dropped a model in storage the other day....... LOL he'd never strike me, just a feeling of OMG LYN!!!!!!!!!!!!

the only glue I have is elmers.. fairly sure that wouldn't work......

I have to answer this too .. it's a MODELER'S thing! I have no sealed boxer's here. I have to open and TOUCH everything .. whether I start building it or put in the pile of "probably never get to it" boxes.

Give it a try Lyn. I for one would be glad to help out any way I could. If you had any questions I would be happy to answer them, and so would a lot of other builders. If you don't, that's okay too, but I think you would enjoy it. And as George pointed out, your Dad will be there watching, proud of his daughter.

I also agree, keep one of those kits that are open and build it. Just have fun with it, knowing full well that Dad would be proud.

haha George, he didn't have to many kits that there wasn't at least one more of. I think his grand plan was to have 3 of each, one to build, one to trade and one to look at on the shelf.. unfortunatly the models that he's got 6 or so of don't interest me.. ah well I'll find one. I really liked the cord, but now I'm leaning away from it... I'm heading to storage now to dig out 15 more to post on ebay today, maybe I'll run across something I can't put down!

Lyn, I may be as old as the hills but, I fully understand what you must be going through. My dad died 6 mos. before I was born but, I always thought he was there looking out for me. As for you wanting to build his models. I think it's great and I'm sure he'd want that. Although it isn't always about the build, it's the memories that you'll get from just opening a box and seeing and touching the parts and remembering your dad. I do that now. I'll sometimes just go in and go through boxes of parts and reminisce about the yrs gone by. I'm sure that after I'm gone my 5 grandsons won't understand that those models aren't just toys but, a lifetime of thoughts and memories and a part of me. But I sure hope they will. This might be something for you to think about, as long as you have his models, he'll always be with you.

that is exactly why I am selling most of them the way I am... I understand how expensive the hobby is now and I may just be able to allow someone to buy one they have been wanting for years at an affordable price.. I think that is what dad would have wanted. I have set back several of the models for myself, some for my nephews and of course still have all of the one's he's built..
