DarylH Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Oh Daniel!!......... What ever happened to "fish for New Years?" somebody wake Dan up....or it'll be fish for Easter!
Daniel Peterson Posted December 23, 2006 Author Posted December 23, 2006 Oh Daniel!!......... What ever happened to "fish for New Years?" somebody wake Dan up....or it'll be fish for Easter! Huh? Wha?... So my reputation preceeds me...I am planning to make some progress over Christmas week...so keep your eyes peeled.
Daniel Peterson Posted December 23, 2006 Author Posted December 23, 2006 painted mine black and blue pearl today ......... is ur muffler and drive shaft molded on the bottom :?: Yup...one piece chassis. I drilled out the ends of the molded-in exhaust, inserted small tubing, and slipped slightly larger tubing over that for better looking exhaust, at least untl you turn the model over. I'll show pics later.
Daniel Peterson Posted December 24, 2006 Author Posted December 24, 2006 Slow and steady wins the race....right? I finally started getting the interior together. The dash needs some more work done to it, and the steering wheel is off getting some detail elsewhere on the bench. The shifter is a shirt pin and the boot is some scrap styrene stacked together. Not pretty enough for the Louvre, but fine for a 10-footer. And the engine finally got some progress. I know, a pre-wired distributor is a little lame, but I like the look, and like I said, this isn't intended to win any awards.
MrObsessive Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Lookin' good so far Dan!...............Make sure you bring that to the next meeting no matter what!
Daniel Peterson Posted December 30, 2006 Author Posted December 30, 2006 I finally got to polishing the paint and hitting it with wax. I dread this phase of the finishing process, but every time I do it I get more betterer at it. Somebody needs to tend to their nails... And the mock up...
Daniel Peterson Posted December 30, 2006 Author Posted December 30, 2006 Lookin' good so far Dan!...............Make sure you bring that to the next meeting no matter what! Will do...dunno what stage of completion it'll be , but it'll be there.
Randy Kern Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Dan, as your new VP of the club, I am ordering you to bring this model to the next meeting. I can do that, can't I?
Steve H. Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Lookin' Good, Peterson! Any chance you'll finish before the new year? (so you can devote all of 2007 to a T-bolt!)
Pro Tech Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Dan, 'Cuda looking sharp! Nice work. Charlie Pro Tech
Daniel Peterson Posted December 30, 2006 Author Posted December 30, 2006 Dan, as your new VP of the club, I am ordering you to bring this model to the next meeting. I can do that, can't I? I think that qualifies as an offer I can't/shouldn't refuse, your vice-eminence.
Daniel Peterson Posted December 30, 2006 Author Posted December 30, 2006 Lookin' Good, Peterson! Any chance you'll finish before the new year? (so you can devote all of 2007 to a T-bolt!) That is kinda the plan, mister smarty-pants. Somebody has gotten to me off-line and extorted me in a way, forcing me to bump the 'Bolt to the forefront.
MonoPed Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 That is kinda the plan, mister smarty-pants. Somebody has gotten to me off-line and extorted me in a way, forcing me to bump the 'Bolt to the forefront. It wasn't me!!! LOL!!
Steve H. Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 It wasn't me!!! LOL!! It was me this time... Kinda like a tag team! You get the next shot at him! Go, Peterson, go!!
Daniel Peterson Posted January 2, 2007 Author Posted January 2, 2007 Something fishy this way comes... Aside from some last bits of clean up (scripts and some of the foil work, and the upper radiator hose) and detailing, here she be. I am not as pleased with the final result as I'd hoped, but I guess that comes with having your nose in a project and seeing all the things that just aren't dead nuts on. This photo says it all, though, representing what I would consider a "real" street car. Mild custom touches, drivable ride height, common sense tire sizes and just enough rake (apologies to Irv for the nose being so high) to make it look a little nasty. This really isn't what I'd call a great kit, what with vague fitment of some things and iffy engraving here and there, but it is a kit of a great subject. And overall, the age of this tool is such that any shortcomings are still tolerable. It builds up rather nicely, and to be fair, most of the problems I had are the result of aging eyes and inadequate lighting at my bench. Hope you guys think it was worth the march through the progress shots.
MonoPed Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 I like it. The stance and wheel choice is perfect!
Steve H. Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Great Job, Dan! I like it, it has that "Street look" you talked about. Our models never impress us as much as they do others, do they? Then again, we know all the boogers in our own builds!
Randy Kern Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 She's lookin' good. Love the color. I like metallic reds and burnt-orangeish kinds of colors on most anything. Dan, you'll have to give me a tutorial on making plates like that. It really sets it off!
crispy Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 That looks sharp. I've got a kit here, but only because I wanted the wheel covers. I wasn't that interested in the subject matter. If that wasn't a great build for you, then I cannot wait to see your next one! Beautiful car, stance, wheels and paint! Chris
Daniel Peterson Posted January 3, 2007 Author Posted January 3, 2007 Dan, you'll have to give me a tutorial on making plates like that. It really sets it off! Kinda simple, actually. Catch up with me Saturday...or of you can't wait, go here (http://www.acme.com/licensemaker/) and try a few. Save the images you create, size to scale and print them off on heavy bond or photo paper.
Matt T. Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Yeah, Dan! Great to see it finished. Mean & nasty, just like it's namesake. Nice work.
