chris4q Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 This is a vintage 1/24 Cox Chaparral 2C slot car - Instead of white which is the normal colour for these cars I wanted to try something different so I went with red - what else ;-)
simonr Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 (edited) Just beautifull....Way better than the original look! Simón P. Rivera Torres Edited October 8, 2009 by simonr
george 53 Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 WOW Chris, I GOTTA agree with Simon! That IS one clean lil Slottie!!! What scale is that? 32nd or 24th? It's lookin pretty nice. If it's 32nd, you sure got you a GOOD eye for detail! If it's 24th, It'd look REALLY good on MY shelf!!
69*Goat Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 (edited) Chris: That is very nice...... Sublime actually. Definitely more interesting than the standard white... Edited October 8, 2009 by 69*Goat
kyledr330 Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 The red makes it look more "sporty" Great job!
Crazy Ed Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Chris Nice Clean build. I must admit that Chaparral carries Red well. Oh fwiw that's a 2 "A" not C. The C didn't have openings on the rear "Fenders" and was the first with the moveable rear wing. Ed

Here's a link to a Chaparral 2C page about the 2C - I think you are thinking of the later model of this car. This 2C (the one I did) is an early version. http://books.google.com/books?id=tMX3L_-zZ...02C&f=false
Raykreations Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 That finish is GORGEOUS! What type of paint did you use (airbrush, rattle can)? Clear coat as well??
Crazy Ed Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Hello Again Chris. I have that Book along with several others. If you have it look at Pg's 120,1. On the Top of the Page is the first 8 positions for the L.A. Times GP at Riverside CA in 1965. Outside row 1 is the 2C driven by Jim Hall and on the inside of row 4 is the 2"A" driven by Hap Sharp that was modified with a "Flipper" wing. The 2"A"'s went on to become 2D's and F's. There was only 1 Chaparral 2C built and when it was modified it was turned into a 2E in 66 and 2G in '67,8. Today some of the surviving parts are found in the restored 2E at Midland Texas. Ed
