Janne Herajärvi Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 That paint is just too cool Now show engine and chassis for us Im going to try that salt weathering since ive got my brand new Iwata
Modlbldr Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Cranky- I appreciate the advice about how to do this technique. I've really admired the work you've done on your last few builds and I want to try this myself. Your build is looking fantastic. Keep it up. Later-
Dr. Cranky Posted November 8, 2009 Author Posted November 8, 2009 Thanks, my friends. I am working on the chassis, and then comes the interior. I usually do the engine last and then I assemble. Stay tuned in for more progress . . . I think you are right, Harry. He must have put something in that coffee. But what? What could it have been?
Dr. Cranky Posted November 8, 2009 Author Posted November 8, 2009 There should be some more progress today . . . I have most of the chassis components painted and ready for assembly . . .stay tuned in for more progress . . .
riz Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 I'll try and find them later today. Hopefully I'll find them right away. I'll let you know. RIZ
Dr. Cranky Posted November 8, 2009 Author Posted November 8, 2009 Thanks, buddy, I really appreciat it!!! Generosity like this is what makes the forum experience such a great thing!!!
Dr. Cranky Posted November 8, 2009 Author Posted November 8, 2009 Work on the chassis has begun . . . this is the way it looks straight out of the salting and painting process . . . no washes on there yet . . . or gunk.
Dr. Cranky Posted November 8, 2009 Author Posted November 8, 2009 I am also adding some of the facial details to this one . . . I used grey, ruddy brown, and black primers and a few passes of Dullcoat to make the chrome look pitted and a bit gone . . . it's a good technique that yields great results . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted November 8, 2009 Author Posted November 8, 2009 The rear suspension, shocks, and exhaust tips have gone on . . . after the chassis gets assembled, I will come back and work out the details with the airbrush . . . and some washes . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted November 8, 2009 Author Posted November 8, 2009 Thanks, buddy. I am making good progress on this thing tonight!!! Stay tuned in for more progress . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 Been working on the chassis tonight and putting on the tires, making sure they all touch and that the body looks cool . . . So far so good . . . I got some soot on those big pipes . . .
Tom Kren Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 One word for this..... BITCHIN !!!!!!! GREAT JOB SO FAR!
Dr. Cranky Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 Thanks, Tom. Yeah, this 56 Nomad kit goes very well together . . .so far no major problems . . . I'm keeping my fingers crossed with the interior . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 Here comes some progress of the rolling chassis and the interior . . . the engine is still in the works . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 This kit is a very easy kit to mask off in terms of the interior . . . It all goes together very well.
Dr. Cranky Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 Here's a better picture of the whole thing: I still have to work with the washes and powders . . . when the time comes . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 Here's the chassis . . . all the little details are coming through . . . a bit of fogging with the airbrush helps . . .. The suspension goes on easy . . . and they help keep all four wheels touching . . . Here's the headliner to brighten up the interior a bit . . .
Raul_Perez Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 As always, the weathering is top notch!! I've really got to get back to duiding some old backyard dioramas as soon as I finish the few builds I've got going right now... Thanks for sharing, (uour builds really are inspirational!!)
MrObsessive Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Now someone try and tell me that wouldn't pass for Harry's ROM if it were totally done! Add in some rusted brake and fuel lines, and it would be a dead ringer! Outstanding job Virgil!!
