Guest Mustang3.8 Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I'm still looking for a junker '70 Monte Carlo junker body, y'all.

Jared Roach Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Oh no no man dont take it wrong...I like it, it looks good.Besides Im a chevy fan,and I own an 89 Camaro.(with a 3" cowlhood) oh don't worry I didn't, I'm putting it aside right now because I'm working on a replica of my mom's daytona right now.
Wayne Buck Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Well I got some more work done on the hood, just got it bondo in some, I did make the cowel a little smaller but I kinda liked it the way it was, I still have to add the trim that runs down the midle of the hood. Holy Cowl ! Can't wait to see what's gonna be under that hood! Now I wanna build something with a HUGE motor in it! Lookin' real good so far! I love first gen Camaro's... and second gen.... and third gen... Here's a small update on the goat, got a little foil work done:
diymirage Posted February 3, 2010 Author Posted February 3, 2010 Well I got some more work done on the hood, just got it bondo in some, I did make the cowel a little smaller but I kinda liked it the way it was, I still have to add the trim that runs down the midle of the hood. looking good of course i dont have to tell you i like a good cowl hood as shown on my cuda from this build one thing i would suggest... once the gleu is propperly set but before you put the last coat of putty on, i would could open the hood all the way around the cowl so that it doenst look like an after thought
slant6 Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 Finally got some work done worth posting. Not my best paint job, but it is my first 2 tone. C&C welcome as always. http://s282.photobucket.com/albums/kk265/slant6225/1970%20Dodge%20Challenger/
Cobrawannabe Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 You have far-better hands than me! How did you keep the separation so even? Charlie Larkin Hey sorry for taking so long, but I actually used some old pinstriper's techniques I've picked up by reading magazines Practice and a whole bunch of patience is all you need Hey, can i add a different build I'm working on? I'm mounting a '68 GT 390 to an Xmod chassis!
Brizio Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Some progress... Painted in gold, and made some works on the engine. I add two Turbos... Toke me a lot of time for fit all under the hood, but it looks nice.
wgflatliner Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 i am almost done with my mustang - once i get done with some small trim paint, i will get some pics up. the model was probably one of my least favorite due to the fact that the quality of the molds left much to desire. i will be doing a 57 chevy "pepper shaker" after i get this one done.
wgflatliner Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Alright my mustang is done. being the model wasn't the best, the hood wouldn't fit the right way. i might take off the "hinges" so it fits. tried to get factory color "pastel blue"
Jared Roach Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Well guys, update! Ok, so while the srt8's interior primer is drying, I deside to work on this. So I got the trunk hinged(3rd time!), inner trunk lid brace done, but I still have to make the latch and stuff and trim it some more, and the trunk floor started, and the cowel hood has to be rebuilt, I droped it, cracked the cowel and broke the hood in two, thank god for 2 part epoxy! So the cowel will be smaller now. btw don't mind the orange silly putty! Just holding it together for mock up!
Matt P Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Brizio, Those turbos look great, did you scratch build them or buy them? Do you have better pictures of the engine bay?
mustangman Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 hey guys i was thinking we should do a community muscle car build i took a minute to look at what wiki calls a muscle car : Muscle car is a term used to refer to a variety of high performance automobiles. At its most widely accepted the term refers to American 2-door rear wheel drive mid-size cars of the late 1960s and early 1970s equipped with large, powerful V8s and sold at an affordable price for street use and drag racing, formally and informally. so these are the parameters i want to set if you want to join, please limit your model to a car that fits the following: 1 it has to be an american car build between 1960 and 1980 2 it has to be a 2 door 3 it has to have testicular fortitude, this can be a factory hemi or a build 350 or even a turbo charged slant 6 4 it has to be street legal, that means i want to see licenseplates people we will ad a due date later i would like to say we use new kits or barely started kits i for one will be building a 1971 hemi cuda which i have build the engine of and havent touch since other then that i would say have fun, build a car like it just rolled of the lot or like it rolled off a hill onto the track i guess if you'd really want to you could enter a ford or even a chevy in this id love to see a nice AMX in here oh, one more thing, lets try to keep all the WIP in this one thread so we dont flood the forum so lets hear it who is in ? here is the list: 01 diymirage: 1971 plymouth hemi 'cuda 02 wgflatliner: 1970 ford mustang boss 429 03 85firebird: ford talledega 04 porky : 1964 cutlass F-85 05 moonlit5hadow: 1979 chevy camaro 427TT 06 ken#5fan: 1969 yenko camaro 07 captain obvious: 1964 ford fairlane 08 lownslow: 1970 dodge challenger 09 bowtiebadboy333: 1968 chevy camaro 10 modellpularn: 1969½ plymouth Road Runner 11 charlie8575: 1966 pontiac GTO 12 ponyxpres:1976 ford mustang 13 thatoneemokid: 1979 chevy elcamino 14 kyledr330: 1969 dodge superbee 15 chevy70739: 1962 chevy belle air 16 bruno: 1969 AMC AMX 17 ron hamilton: 1964 plymouth fury 18 NJ wayne: 1964 pontiac GTO 19 beefheart22: 1978 pontiac firebird 403 20 ryan S: 1970 chevy chevelle 21 plasticfrog: 1969-71 oldsmoblie chevellontearo 22 MSUfan1981: 1969 pontiac GTO 23 brian fishburn: 1967 mercury cyclone 24 remingtonbox: 1962 corvette C1 25 jason vandergriff: 1969 chevrolet corvair 26 coolcar429: 1970 dodge challenger R/T 27 harold: 1962 ford falcon ranchero 28 moparfan426: 1970 plymouth AAR cuda 29 JT: 1969 chevy el camino 30 customferrari: 1962 chevy corvette 31 matt P: 1966 chevy chevelle 32 smart-resins: 1965 dodge coronet 500 33 badgass: 1969 pontiac GTO the judge 34 demon9115: 1969 dodge superbee 35 slant6: 1970 dodge challenger 36 pete1980: 1966 chevy chevelle 37 dukefan69: 1969 ford torino talladega 38 70 buick GSX: 1970 ford mustang 39 coolcar429: 1969 yemko camaro 427 40 dukefan69: plymouth sattelite 41 69_charger: 1970 chevy chevelle SS 42 mustang3.8: 1972 olds cutlass H/O 43 cutlass_supreme71: 1968 dodge dart 44 gleuroo: 1970 buick GSX prostreet 45 69_charger: 1969 dodge charger 46 69_charger: 1970 dodge challenger 47 mustang3.8: 1972 hurst oldmobile 48 brizio: 1969 dodge superbee 49 badazzss: 1964 ford fairlane thunderbolt due date is set for june 1 2010 50 MUSTANGMAN---1963/64 Buick Riviera

slant6 Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 I finally got something done worth posting. This is my first attempt at two tone paint and BMF, so be gentle. I had to redesign the hinges to allow it to open correctly with the grille in place. I used the ends of some 6 amp diode's I snatched from work. They worked out well....so far.
diymirage Posted March 6, 2010 Author Posted March 6, 2010 that first pic really shows of the BMF it looks great, specially for a first try only thing i would ad i a tiny bit of it around the wheel wells also, is there a small BMF trim divider between the yellow and black ? (im not sure if thats what im seeing but if not that would look great)
slant6 Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 (edited) Its actually not BMF. I masked it after painting and painted a small silver pinstripe. Good eye. I wasnt sure about doing the wheel wells, but now Im thinking about it. Edited March 6, 2010 by slant6
charlie8575 Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Nice work, everyone. I should be back on mine very soon. Charlie Larkin

coolcar429 Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 well i got some work done today painted the trim finshed the motor finshed the frame still working on the interior
Brizio Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Nice job!!! I like also you color combo Slant6! I Hope next week go back to work on my bee...
Corvette.Jeff Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 im going to have to drop out the body on the elky got to hot when i was doing the passenger side flare and the entire rear section broke off. i could probably still build in this, im in the post apoc. build with a 70.5 camaro, its gonna look like a beater though.
slant6 Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Almost done. Got a couple more days of work to do. I got all of the interior done. I did a headliner too, but I forgot to take a picture, trust me, it looks great. My rollcage ended up not fitting correctly, so I just scrapped it. I still have to chrome the bumpers, and finish painting the wheels.
