charlie8575 Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Hi, Brandon. Welcome aboard. There aren't a lot of people who build demo derby as a dedicated specialty, but if you look on this board, and others, you might find one or two. There are a lot great ideas you can pick up from other modelers in different genres, too, so be ready for a learning experience. You'll find the learning experience here at this forum one of the best. Don't be a stranger! Charlie Larkin
dwc43 Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 im new here im 14 i love to build models but my favorite is to build demolition derby and race car models any one else build them Welcome aboard. Never tried a demo car, but built a lot of race cars. Here's a pic of the last two race cars I built. The blue one is a Lindberg '40 Ford with a 390 Thunderbird engine in it. It has Thunderbird on the valve covers, it's not from a Thunderbird car for those that don't know that. The '41 Willy's was built like a car from the movie "Hot Rod". Running a blown 426 Hemi. I've got a bunch of older '60's and '70's NASCAR projects that I am collecting parts for at the moment.
LUKE'57 Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 The only demo derby car I've built is the 1/32 '56 Ford kit that was all banged up a very long time ago. I have been known to build a few race cars and take pics of them in my time though. Here's the link to my albums if you'd like to take a look. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v69/mitchum/
Nick Winter Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 im new here im 14 i love to build models but my favorite is to build demolition derby and race car models any one else build them 14 huh looks like we be the same age, Not a big fan of stockers, modifieds, or derby cars in scale ,but love building things that haul them. Anyway Welcome.
MyBradKeselowski Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Welcome, I've seen some of your demo builds on another forum, I like the way they look. I personally don't build derby models, but like to see other peoples taste of building. Hope you enjoy it here. There are many peoples building taste here, hope you like them all. I do. Again welcome to the forum.
crispy Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Brandon, Welcome! As the guys said, not much for derby cars around here, however you should be able to pick up some great pointers to maybe add to your builds. All the same, at one of the model shows I attended this summer I ran into a young man who built demo cars. I thought they looked pretty good. Here are a couple of them with more at the link. ra7c7er Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 I am in the process of scratch building some modern dirt LateModel and Modified cars. Once that is done some WOO cars are next then enough sportsman cars to make a heat race Diorama for the local race track.
