highway Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 I'm sure if I'd think about it, I could have a list 10 pages long of "Holy Grail" kits, but here are a few of the most inmportant. 1974-76 Trans AM-One of very few styles I don't have of a Gen 21978 or 79 Trans AM Type K SportwagonMonogram's 1/16 scale tractor trailers-Any of them would do, but I would really love to have the blue Kenworth Aerodyne I had as a kid and the trailer to go with it It is ironic just a couple weeks ago I did get one of my "Holy Grails" scratched off the list, MPC's 1/16 scale General Lee. That was the first model I ever built and wanted to replace it ever since I'd lost the original in a house fire in 1997.
Darin Bastedo Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 I guess this is as close as I get to a holy grail these days. It's by renwal, and it is the only Cobra variant I don't have yet. Cobra? yes this car was built on a cobra chassis, CSX2451 Designed by Virgil Exner. It's hard to find this kit for a price I'm willing to pay.
Ben Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 By "Holy Grail" do you mean kits that we already own or kits that we have yet to obtain? For me, on kits that I already own, it would be a toss up between my two Renwal visible chassis kits or my Monogram 1/12 Mean Maverick funny car kits. As far as kits I have yet to obtain, it would be the Aurora Racing Scenes VooDoo Vega complete funny car kit and the Pinto complete funny car kit. I have the rest of the entire series, just need those two!
Crazy Ed Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 In addition to the kits in my sig. I'd have to add: Formula Canadas Shadow DN2 + 4 kits AMT or Johan Mark Donohue '70 + '71 Javelin's Crazy Ed
Dr. Cranky Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 I don't really have any, except for a couple in of builds in my imagination that I would like to get down on styrene.
Harry P. Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 1/8 scale, full-detail Daytona or Superbird. Either one. With options to build a stock and an accurate NASCAR version. I know... don't hold my breath...
Dragline Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 The Aurora Racing Scenes stuff is something I wish could be redone. I bought a sealed VooDoo Vega a few years ago so that's off the list, but the rest would be nice. I also would like the Snake and Mongoose rear engine cars reissued. There are quite a few Tom Daniel kits I'd love to see as well. The Monogram 1/32 gassers were VERY cool too! I think there were at least 3 of em. All the Museum Pieces and Early Iron cars reished would also be sweet. Bob
kelson Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 I guess for me it would be mpc's 73-Caprice,i've tried at least 6 times to get one on Ebay and have been outbid everytime!,guessing it's the grail kit for many others as well.
highway Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 This is my "Holy Grail" I'm guessing you want it for the Coors decals, because other than that it's the Kenworth cabover AMT just reissued.
2000-cvpi Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 The Hubbley 1960-1 Ford station wagons. Several sixties Jo-Han Mopars and the Cadillac hearse. I stay off eBay and I am cheap so it may be a while until I get them.
XJ6 Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 ***Gunze Sangyo*** - {HIGH TECH MODEL} Ferrari 250 GTO Competion '63 Kit.G-227.... " Enzo's Master Piece"
brett Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 MPC funny cars and the pro stock vega, though any vega would do. And if we're dreaming aloud here all the Aurora Funny car sets
Tonioseven Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 What is your Holt Grail kits?mine would be mpc's 1971-1973 caprice and a revell of Germany kenworth aerodyne cabover They're out there somewhere; I stumbled onto a '71 and two '73s...
58 Impala Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 I wish I could find a 71 Impala, that was my first car. But everyone I've seen I'd have to refinance my house.
disabled modeler Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 (edited) Mine would be the following... Johan 60s Hearses. Johan 66 Chrysler 300 HT. Normatt Winnebago motor home. 68-70 Bonneville HTs. Any 60s station wagons I don't have. Resin 64 Bonneville 4door wagon conversion. and to find parts for my dads old models they need. I have trades.....? Edited October 9, 2011 by disabled modeler
highway Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Well, I just noticed that there was another I had forgotten about, the original AMT "Back to the Future" time machine. Strangely enough, I remembered it was one of my "Holy Grails" I'd forgot when a friend gave me a plastic tote today (well yesterday now since it is technically Monday now ) that was filled with models from when he tried modeling in the early 90s and that was the first kit I seen!!! I about fell over in shock!!
mr cheap Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 1971 ford mustang mach 1 black on white //// lay downback seat/// 429ci /// 4 speed /// air ram i had 1 for real //// it roted out //unfixable
Mr.Zombie Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Beatnik Bandit. I even put candles around it. I hope I will be good enough some day to build a beautiful car out of it. Until then it has to wait.
Mr.Zombie Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Awesome! Jeez I'd love to build the light blue five window...
Eshaver Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Mine would be the '60 El Camino made by Revell. On the box art the car is painted green with scallops Uh George , I'm quite sure you meant to say a 57 Ranchero. If you are referring to a Revell. Now meanwhile , A M T did issue both the original and it's first Re-issue in the same art work using a Green /W scolloped 1960 El camino . Now my Grail above all the stuff out there an money wern't an object , Uh a Monogram Futuresta by Daryl Starbird .......... Ed Shaver
jbwelda Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 i have to agree on the sizzler; been trying to score one for a reasonable price (i would gladly give 100 for one in a good box but yeah like good luck with that!) for a couple years now and havent even come close. i love that out-size hemi in there.
