Have signature pics been banned?

Okay, I'm trying to update my sig pic and the board is telling me that my signature is too long. Now I was able to change my sig pic a couple weeks ago when I had one of my cat, and there was no problem. This along with the links and a quote at the bottom.

Now all I can do is put in my name, and nothing else.

Did something change, or am I not being computer geeky enough today?

Well phooey on that if it's true! What stops someone (like me for instance in a tutorial) from making 10 posts in a row with three pics?? The effect is still the same.

I know some can't get (or can't afford) the cheapest DSL, but that'll be a major annoyance when it comes to posting info which is picture/graphic heavy.

Sorry if this puts a bug in someone's ear if they're on dial-up, but that's the way of the tech world these days. Newer computers today are built to take a very high speed connection with no hiccups.

Yesterday I tried to make a small change to my sig line, and I had the same results. I ended up having to settle for just plain text

Could THAT have been why I couldn't get on about 7/7:30 A.M., on Monday??? I couldn't get in no matter what I did, then "Poof" it started workin right again! I don't have a pic in my sig, but it may suck for the guys that do.

Hey Bill,

I knew something was up on Monday because I tried changing it and it said the same thing. I even replaced one of my sentences with "Stop, Drop and Roll won't work in Hell" and it would not allow it, so I left everything alone because of it. I think the huge pics in the sigs may have done it. Maybe the great one himself will explain to the masses. Might be the beginning stages of Government rationing.

I know some get annoyed with pics that are too big and not cropped and resized properly------I know I do. I try to make my sig pics that are not overwhelming to the point that it shifts the board over unnecessarily.

I had a nice one to put up too------------hopefully it is a software glitch!

I have no idea what you guys are talking about with sig pics but I had problems getting on the forum on Monday or Tuesday morning. Later on everything worked okay.

I'm on dial up.Thats all thats offered where I live.Unless I want to pay a lot of money for satalite and thats not gonna happen.N.Y. took all that money for taxes.And I'm sure as heck not gonna sell my house for any net connection.I don't care if all those pics are in there.If the page takes to long to load I move on to another thread and don't even see the nice work you guys do,is all.Have fun...

I had an insomnia bout Tuesday night/Wednesday morning and encountered similar occurrences, with nothing loading.

Although there was discussion of this, I thought sizes were going to be limited, not altogether verboten.

Whatever the problem, I'm sure we'll have an answer sooner rather than later; even if one we didn't really want.

If I could offer a different perspective to the limitations of signatures, and no, I don't care one way or the other as I'm connected via fiber.

I frequent a fair number of forums on several topics. Of those that I actually register and participate on, and whenever possible, I disable signatures and avatars. It's nothing personal, but I'm here for the content and exchange of ideas.

I've also seen it where some users have a tendency to create huge signature images that are often longer than their typical, one-line posts. That and I find the images are terribly distracting to the overall thread.

Furthermore I believe, but I have no actual evidence to support this, that curtailing such signatures may help to save on bandwidth charges. Which would really stack up quickly over an entire site. In which case I couldn't fault a site owner for taking that route.

That said, I seriously hope there won't be 3-image limit on a single post. That can be very frustrating.

Yeah I noticed this too, I went to update my builds and everytime even when I removed stuff it said my signature to freakin' long. so i'm stuck with this ###### signature which isn't fully up to date.

I'm currently using photobucket to host all of my images, and I think you can have 10 pics per post here, [at least thats the way it was the last time I posted pics here, a couple weeks ago].

I'm just about done with my 48 lincoln, so I'll see if the pic count limit has changed in next couple of days when I post the completed car.

I really hope the forum doesn't reduce the pic limit to three per post......then we'll be just like that "other forum"......oh yay!!
