Raul_Perez Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Well I finally got around to finishing this one. It's a Revell '40 Ford coupe body mounted on a lengthened Revell '41 Willys Street Rod chassis. I also replaced the blower with the intake system from the new Revell 5wd '32 Ford coupe, (thanks to a parts contribution from my friend, Bernard). Here's the link to the build: On the Workbench The major body modifications are the chopped top, the slanted "B" pillars, the pie-cut hood, the filled and thickened running boards and the molded in rear fenders. Here's the 392 HEMI from the Revell '41 Willys with the intake manifold and carbs from the Revell '32 5wd coupe. The ACCELL coil and the wired distributor are from SMBC, the ballast resistor is made from styrene and aluminum. The exhaust piping is solder with the mufflers from the '41 Willys. Well...I'm off to my next build... Later,
E St. Kruiser50 Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Hey Raul my friend Very, very nice. All the subtleties are great and work extremely well on this BEEYOOOTIFUL 40 . So, what's next for all of us to enjoy ????
Bernard Kron Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Gawgeous! The chop job is unique, oh so graceful and super tasty. It complements the rake (or is it the other way around?) perfectly. I really like the detail on the windshield frame (scratch built?), often overlooked after models have been chopped. It makes the whole front end look really mean! Perfect for the massive power of the 392 and the BIG rear tires. This is yet another one of your builds that just begs to be made as a 1:1. I'm all thumbs on this one!
CB Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Well, Bernard beat me to it, but yessir Raul, this thing is absolutely gorgeous!! Really like how you built the car up around that Hemi
Raul_Perez Posted January 3, 2010 Author Posted January 3, 2010 (edited) ...So, what's next for all of us to enjoy ???? Thanks, Dave!! I'm working on the AMT '39 Chevy Wagonrod with a few minor body mods...specifically those aweful headlights... ...I really like the detail on the windshield frame (scratch built?), often overlooked after models have been chopped. It makes the whole front end look really mean! Thanks, Bernard!! I cut down the stock windshield to fit in the opening, then added half-round styrene to the bottom edge to make the moldings look uniform around the entire opening. Raul_Perez Posted January 3, 2010 Author Posted January 3, 2010 Well, Bernard beat me to it, but yessir Raul, this thing is absolutely gorgeous!! Really like how you built the car up around that Hemi How did you know that's what I did?! That was the only way to get it to fit!!
Randy Kern Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Another well-executed, beautiful build my friend! All the modifications fit into the style. Very cool!
seeker589 Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Looks nice and clean - like it could roll into a rod show at any time. The top looks much better than the turret they put on from the factory. The color combination is outstanding. I like the details - just enough to set the car apart. Well done.
Raul_Perez Posted January 3, 2010 Author Posted January 3, 2010 Another well-executed, beautiful build my friend! All the modifications fit into the style. Very cool! Thanks, Randy!! How's that '49 SVT Merc holding up in the east-coast weather? Looks nice and clean - like it could roll into a rod show at any time. The top looks much better than the turret they put on from the factory. The color combination is outstanding. I like the details - just enough to set the car apart. Well done. Thanks for the compliments!! I really like your "turret" description of the stock top!!

Jeff Sauber Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Thats a very slick ride.....nice work. The details and paint look great
Raul_Perez Posted January 3, 2010 Author Posted January 3, 2010 Thanks for all of the compliments, guys!! I really appreciate them!! Yes, the HEMI is really wedged pretty tightly in there!! The paint is Testors spray can, 2 stage lacquer. I really like the ease of use and the results. Later,

Yes, when it comes to engines from the 50s through the 70s, it's hard to beat the look of a big old HEMI!! Later,

MikeMc Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Thanks, Neal!! I actually finished this one several weeks ago but I was delayed in posting it because my computer at home died a horrific death... So thats where you've been......Glad to see that beauty finished!!
Raul_Perez Posted January 6, 2010 Author Posted January 6, 2010 I tried to warn you about those "porn sites", but no you had to go look at the nice ladies didn't ya... But they were the sites you told me about!! Actually, either the motherboard or the processor died. After a few random issues recently that a reboot usually resolved, I got the "Blue Screen of Death". After that it wouldn't even boot to the BIOS screen... So thats where you've been......Glad to see that beauty finished!! Thanks, Mike!! Yeah, between a dead computer, working on my son's cars and the holidays, I haven't had much time for the forum. Hopefully I'll get my computer back soon and I'll be back in business. Now all I've got to do is figure out where my wife left the camera...
diymirage Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 I tried to warn you about those "porn sites", but no you had to go look at the nice ladies didn't ya... thats funny, i always fall for the "not so nice" ladies
