Smart-Resins Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 I am working on a revell 41 Willys and I have sectioned it and doing the chop right now. I am interested in seeing any others out there that may have had these treetments done to them. Thanks. JOdy
Zoom Zoom Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 If you smell ozone, run. If I read your title exactly as written, my answer is (thanks Mike:D) "they may have done that on Nip/Tuck". Or Google "Lorena Bobbit" And no, I'm not going to show you pictures
Harry P. Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Uh, you might want to clarify your post title...
Zoom Zoom Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 You guys are a hoot!LOL. Jody This thread is going to go epic. In record time the discussion has shifted to hooters.

Ken Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Ask and you shall receive!!! I still haven't finished it. Chassis is intended to be the one from the 39 wagonrod kit... best parts kit ever!!!! Interior still needs a lot of work done to it, like starting it for one. Rear window treatment needs work as well. This is definitely a stalled project and has been sitting for well over three years or so. It is the second attempt. First attempt was done using the Revell SWC willys and the opening doors caused issues with the roof. Okay, it appears that I have deleted the photos from my photobucket account. I will take some more this evening and upload them tonight.
Zoom Zoom Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 We'd better quit horsing around before we get in trouble
Modelmartin Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Looking at the title I thought it was going to be about a sex-change operation!
Ken Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Okay, after staring at the model room mess I remembered where the willys was. I dug it out and present it here for you... boy, that sounds horrible... Most of the mods are self-evident. The fenders were widened about 3 scale inches front and rear. The top is chopped about 3-4 scale inches and the section is about the same. it has been a while since the mods were done, so I don't remember the exact dimensions. The rear is pretty much done, it is the front end treatment that has had me stumped. Anyway, hope this help with some ideas for yours. Oh yeah, the frame is cut and the rear suspension mounts are flipped to the outside of the frame rails. The front suspension is stock from the kit. The rims and tires are from the AMT 32 phantom kit
Guest Johnny Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Man! Had to change to my old keyboard! The new one is covered with sprite which just came out my nose when I read the thread title!

Smart-Resins Posted February 5, 2010 Author Posted February 5, 2010 (edited) Very cool job! You gave me a idea on the rear fenders. LOL. I kept the rear window the same size, but I went about it a different way then you did it looks like!. Of course, I got my angle wrong on one, so I created more work, but all together I like it. Heres front side and rear view so far. Chopped 4 inches and sectioned 4 inches.Thanks. Jody Edited February 5, 2010 by Smart-Resins
Ken Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Believe it or not, the rear fenders are sections of 40 ford fenders grafted onto the body. As far as yours goes, you might find the chop a bit easier to reconcile with the trunk if you cut out the sides of the top. You can see how I did it from the cut and glue lines on mine. Good luck with yours. I need to get restarted on mine.
Ken Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 I also discovered this one at the same time. I didn't take any pics last night, but decided to this morning. This is the second-second attempt at this. I didn't like the height of the top chop after a while and decided to start over. After seeing this one in pics, I prefer the first-second attempt. This one flows better in the tulip area, but the chop is too short. The front windshield would be about useless without major modifications to the roof line. This is also the one where I was stumped on the rear window treatment. In all, it would make a good show car, but not a street driven custom, which is what this project was intended to be. I may just paint the windows black on first-second and make it a slammer for now. Onto the pics. Here are the two side by side, you can see that the front chop is quite a bit lower than the rear chop Here is a straight on side shot of the second chop. I need to finish out the windows as that would lighten up the, at this point, heavy roof. This is the rear of the chop. I really like the way the top resolves into the tulip panel on this one. Again, I just don't know what to do with the rear window. At this angle, eventhough it is full size, it would be a mail slot to view through. Not very useable in real life. Of course, it is just a model. You can also see that I did not go as far with the body mods. The fenders are stock width. I did graft the fronts of a set of rear 40 ford fenders to get rid of the gasser wheel well look. This one will use the kit frame if I ever get around to finishing it. Hope these pics help with your project and give you some ideas.
Smart-Resins Posted February 5, 2010 Author Posted February 5, 2010 LOL. Actually I like this ones top better! LOL. More stylish and shall I say swoopy! LOL. Thanks. Jody
Jon Cole Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Maybe go with a late model vehicle backlight? Maybe a '58 Chevy rear window with the sides ground away?
GrandpaMcGurk Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Do I dare say "I enjoy seeing what's being done with the ol' Willys"? I don't often work with small scale these days but I built the one on the top for a tute on another site, the panel delivery body on the bottom is one Rick started long ago and sent to me. Just food for thought.......
Smart-Resins Posted February 5, 2010 Author Posted February 5, 2010 Very cool! That panel is great! Love that idea! Sure would love to see that one finished! LOL. Jody
Harold Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Its 'Willys'. Not 'Willy'. The man's name was John North Willys.
MrObsessive Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Looking at the title I thought it was going to be about a sex-change operation! I couldn't help but think the same thing!
arick Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Hey Jody I'm the one that built the Willys Panel. Its a combination of a Willys coupe and a 40 Ford sedan delivery. Don and I are immersed in keeping TDR Innovations exciting and don't have the time to finish the Willys, so we've got a challenge for you.............. You put together a group of fellow forum modellers who would like to see this thing finished. We'll give you the body and you and the group finish it any way you want. When its finished, draw one name from the group (excluding Don and I) and that person wins the finished build. If its a go, PM me with your address and the body will be shipped to you first.
Smart-Resins Posted February 5, 2010 Author Posted February 5, 2010 Sounds very cool! I know a couple that might be interested. Although, I have to check to make sure they are members here. I know they are on my forums and thiers. LOL.Let me find out. Thanks. Jody
Smart-Resins Posted February 5, 2010 Author Posted February 5, 2010 Is anyone else here interested in this idea? I think it would be fun! I could do some of the body painting! I have house of color gold, pagan gold, as well as some transparent reds and greens so I could do cany color? Jody
