lizardlust Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Thought it was high time to post some of my meager efforts here! This is Revell's wonderful Caprice Snap Kit. The lightbar was liberated from an AMT/Ertl Taurus police car kit. Finish is a combination of PlastiKote and Duplicolor with old Chimneyville decals and Duplicolor clear coats. Basic plumbing and wiring under the hood, scratched antennas from piano wire stock and turned sprue bases, and a pinned and repositioned kit spotlight round it out.
Guest Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Pretty nice for a "meager" effort! Beeyouteeful!
whale392 Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 (edited) I remember seeing those in my rearview quite regularly (back when I was in Gods Waiting Room!). Great build of an all-to-familiar and, believe it or not, wanting to see again subject (Ohio snow, cold, and taxes are driving me back home to Florida). What color did you use for the Creme on this build? I know Florida had this color spec'd for them. I am building (term used loosely of course) a 1991 Mustang LX FHP SSP right now, and have the original color codes in my stash of info somewhere. If dupli-color or Plasti-cote has something close, I could use that instead. Thanks in advance. Edited February 12, 2010 by whale392
Shawn Tillotson Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Great use of the high performance goodyear hoses. I know allot of Impala guys use them but they only look right on patrol cars!
disabled modeler Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 You call that meager? I wouldn't, Nice work!
george 53 Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Gotta agree, it looks pretty good to me!!!
bsoder Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Love those cop cars!...not sure if I've seen this before Kurt, very nice!
Murphy's Law Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Super clean build! Saw lots of those while living in Florida (and working as a deputy down there) and your's is spot on. @whale - You might find this site helpful: SSP Mustangs
Janne Herajärvi Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Not bad at all from snap kit. Nice and realistic build! Me likes
whale392 Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 I frequent that site Chris......love the FHP SSP's. I do greatly thank you for the link, just in case I didn't know about it. Maybe we should transfer the link to the 1:1 references for others to use in their builds.
mikemopar70 Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Very cool Caprice! The paint is smooth, and your build is very clean, it's good to see a Caprice kit!! I like it a lot..
Jon Geddes Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Looks good! I've always had a fascination with scale police cars and emergency vehicles.
kilrathy10 Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 (edited) That's a great looking police car....I remember when those first came out.....Most of us were like, "What the heck is that??"...Definitely, resembled a boat more than a police car..... After they did away with the rear wheel well covers, they started to get some respect, though.......Nice trip down memory lane, for me.....Thanks, Man... Edited May 15, 2014 by kilrathy10
om617 Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Very nice. Did these cars use the same engine as the Impala SS btw ?
migace Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Revell actually made the 5.7L old TBI setup. The SS kit had the correct LT1 motor
Agent G Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 (edited) Very nice. Did these cars use the same engine as the Impala SS btw ? Starting in '94 the LT 1 was available as an option in the Caprice 9C1 package. That was a great copcar. This topic was originally posted before I came onto this site. Great build!
