bbowser Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 I combined 4 kits. The truck is AMT's 60 Chevy p/u with the back half of the frame from the Monogram Ford F-350 dually grafted on. The engine is a 348/409 W block from the AMT 62 Belair as I didn't think the 6 cylinder would be up to the task. The 'camper special' is Model King's reissue. I made considerable mods to the frame, and scratched a single exhaust system. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out except for the fit of the roof, it's slightly warped, so I display it open to show off the interior. Please let me know what you think. This is my first post with pics, I hope they come out OK.
Railfreak78 Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Now thats just really neat! I like the blue and white and the detail on the camper. Nice piece.
RodneyBad Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Great looking camper Nice color combo. Looks Great.
Sixties Sam Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Very well done! The color combo is perfect. Nice details on the inside, too! Makes me want to go camping! Sam
Guest Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Way cool! Very nice work. Interested in parting with the 6 banger from the kit? Pm me.
tuffone20 Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Wow that looks great!! I really like the color you painted it as it goes well with it. I'm getting ready to build a '72 Chevy truck & the Model King open road camper and hope it comes out as nice as your's.
bbowser Posted February 22, 2010 Author Posted February 22, 2010 Thanks for all the kind words! It makes all the 'swearing' I did during construction worth it. Sorry prowler, I've got plans for the 6 banger.
Chuck Most Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 I'm not sure its nearly as crusty and rusty as a camper that old should be!
