E St. Kruiser50 Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 (edited) I've has several people ask me about doing a tutorial on doing leather covered seats, and door panels Is there any interest in me doing that?? I would include where to look for materials, the process for adherring it properly, and design techniques and considerations. Edited August 8, 2010 by Treehugger Dave
Junkman Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Definitely yessir! I would like to use this for my Hubley/Gabriel metal models. So please, count me in.
59 Impala Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Yes sir, that would be very helpful. Thanks in advance. Dan
paularfons Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 TREEHUGGER, GO FOR IT. I WOULD LIKE TO LEARN HOW TO DO THAT!! I HAVE SOME 1/8TH, AND 1/12TH SCALE KIT THAT NEED LEATHER INTERIORS. COOOOOOLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

modelhut Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 I truly enjoyed your painting tutorial. I would love to learn how to cover interiors in leather. Thank you in advance.
Chas SCR Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Would have like it better if you did this about two years ago! lol then I would not have had to do french stitch leather interior to the 36 I did.
The Creative Explorer Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 yes please! I have some leather layin around, but I can't get the leather to be thin enough and would love to see a tutorial.
Jon Cole Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Absolutely, Dave! That is an area I have steered clear of, as I didn't think it could be done to scale. I would like to learn new stuff.
Harry P. Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 ...I didn't think it could be done to scale. Oh yes, it can...
Corvette.Jeff Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Id like to learn how to as well dave, i have a 1/16 th tbird tahts begging for leather seats
E St. Kruiser50 Posted February 22, 2010 Author Posted February 22, 2010 Oh yes, it can... Sure Harry, in 1/8th scale Pocher kit that the leather comes with it .
Railfreak78 Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 It has to be better than the blue shop towel I used once!
Harry P. Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Sure Harry, in 1/8th scale Pocher kit that the leather comes with it . Yeah, the material comes in the kit... but you still have to DO the upholstering! The seats don't upholster themselves! But anyway, those are aftermarket resin seats, not the kit seats, and that is NOT the leather you get in the kit. The kit leather is way too thick, I could never have gotten the pleats like that with the Pocher stuff. I found this material at Hobby Lobby in the fabric section. Much thinner, much more flexible, and I could create the piping that with the thick Pocher material would have been impossible.
george 53 Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Dave, do you REALLY need ta ask??? Do YOU like HUGGIN TREES???? Don't make me come up there!!!
wisdonm Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 (edited) Sure would. Beats using candy wrappers. Edited February 23, 2010 by wisdonm
camaroman Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Sure would. Beats using candy wrappers. ???????...as Ricky would say "Lucy, you got some 'splaining to do!"
Foxer Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 This would be very welcome, Dave, I think how you process the leather as bought, ie. how you skive it to a thinner skin, would also be helpful.
Jon Cole Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Sure would. Beats using candy wrappers. I dunno... nothin' says nice seat covers like "Snickers"!
crazyjim Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 What scale we talking Dave? If it's 1/24 or 1/25 then I'm realy interested.
E St. Kruiser50 Posted February 24, 2010 Author Posted February 24, 2010 I hope the new thread helps .
