WOW... This is depressing.

You can actually tell who came from scale auto, scale asylum, and some of those other forums that shoot others down just for kicks. This used to be a friendly place to come to, but you get a few people have nothing better to do than belittle others because they have a mentally challenging habit that they can't seem to get over.

If you have a problem with your feelings about how nice someone builds, go elsewhere. I learned a lot from people who were kind enough to share what they know, like Dave(whom I gave credit to for the idea of a custom car I've been working on) and I like to show what I did to make a kit the way I've built it. If anyone wants to know how to work on something, the person tries to help out as much as possible... But then someone who thinks they know everything has to jump in and add his venom.

This is not a place to shoot someone down, this is a place we come to grow as modelers, as well as human beings. I miss the friendship and comadre of modelers talking and learning for the betterment of their lives. But some of you out there just want to stir the pot, and proclaim yourselves as kings of the modeling world. As Mark Thompson pointed out, nobodies perfect.

I don't care if someone can out build everybody on the board... I'm not here to do that, and I've never noticed Dave ever try to say he does better than anyone. His builds speak for themselves. And I've talked to him here before, and got some great advice on stuff I've worked on. He has been a gentleman and a friend that has no ego problems, unlike others I've seen.

So give it a rest...

Who would have thought that a thread about cutting up leather gloves and an alleged secret chroming process would have caused such a disturbance amongst our modeling brethren.............

Who got beat up?........David and Mark pointed out a few discrepencies with Dave's claims and asked a couple of questions that some may consider as "delicate", but I didn't really see any serious verbal abuse of anyone here.........Perhaps a few here are over reacting?....yes?

You've totally missed the point, dude... You're interpreting the questions as some kind of personal attack on Dave.

I'm actually pretty curious about the chroming system and the airbrush he invented also, and would like to know more about it too.

I sometimes think there should be a Kiddie Pool section to every online forum. A place where everything is sunshine and rainbows, and nobody is ever allowed to do anything but post "great job" as a response to any other post. Those uncomfortable with discussion, and that's exactly what this has been...there's not a flame to be found that I can see-just a few different perspectives on the same subjects...don't have to venture out into the deep end where people actually may (GASP!) disagree sometimes, and things are scary.

Well said.

I've looked over this entire thread and I don't see any serious attacks on Treehugger.

There are a couple of firm questions being asked by a couple of the fellas, and there are a few responses here and there that indicate a bit of irritation, but there's no real fighting going on to speak of.....

Mr. Morton and Mr. Jones are hardly what I'd call trolls looking for trouble. They are both top notch, experienced builders that have asked some legitimate questions in regards to Treehugger-Dave's strong claims of developing a secret chroming process and some of the parts he alleged that are scratchbuilt, [that in fact turned out not to be the case].

Right. We are four pages into a leather-covered-interiors-tutorial-thread and so far I have learned f00k all about leather covered interiors. If we continue at this pace, maybe my children will eventually find out how it's done?

You know, I will throw my rant in here since it looks like some lower class peolpe stole and killed the thread already. someone is willing to take the time to do a how to for other modelers that dont know how to do it. so obviously Dave knows how to do this, or he would not do the how too! So theres the proof! For the chroming, he has said several times over what the stuff is called. Are some people so unintelligent that they can not google the stuff? My God people get of your high bussom and wipe your nose so that the brown stuff is not oozing out and get a real life. He has done how to's and articles and has won awards IIRC. So what the heck is the problem? Am I jelious(spelling?) of him. Heck ya. Did I belittle him and call him names for it. NO! I am very possative there are things I can do better then he can! We are each our own individual selves. The only difference is there are some lacking maturity and the lame brainless rants in this partcular threads and hundreds of others on here show who those people are and what I will label as morans are! I have some leather, but it is way to thick for this type of stuff. I want to learn here. Not read some inmature defication about someone else. I want to learn what leather to look for and how to use it. That is what mag articles are for. That is what forums are for. That is what how to's are for. That is what books are for. That is what videos are for, to help enhance the modeling world for those who desire to raise thier skill levels. Those who want to sit on thier rump and be a pile of defication, please at least learn the meaning of respect for others and do it on your own time in your own world where no one else needs to smell your reak of imaturity! I want to see this leather tutorial! Thank you. Now I return the decent poeple to thier regularly scheduled program and demand the others to go to a time out for the duration of my member ship! Thank you and God bless! Jody

If all you took from this thread was that Dave was being shot down, then it might be time for you to go back to your "Sponge Bob Square Pants" forum and leave the building to us. We are only asking, and I'll type reeeeeeaaaaaaaallllllllllll slow so you can read.......for David to "Show" us his "Invented" system. I can cut parts off a chrome tree and say I chromed it. We are asking to see the process so we can do the same with our models. I think they call that learning. not shooting down.

Bluesmark, yes indeed I did read that as I read the thread in its entirety. Problem being, I either scrqape too much, or it comes out uneven or I cut myself. I figure Dave will add more as many do. It seems like many people when they see a how too, they wnat everything right there in one single post and they do not seem to realize that some people do a working how to! I enjoy those the most because you get to "watch" it! As for me getting all worked up, that is a mere assumption for I am not worked up nor stressed out merely stateing my opinions to those who love to taint good threads! Thanks. Jody

I don't really care who can outbuild who. I don't build for shows - just me! So when Dave mentioned a turorial on real leather interiors, I got excited. I also got excited about Nicks's trailer hitch tutorial, and excited with posts about getting a new airbrushe. I'm never going to spend $40 on a set of wheels $8 for Pegasus are enough. I'm never going to spend hundreds on an airbrush ($60 is plenty) or a spraybooth (homemade works).

So lay off the garbage and let's get to the tutorial already.

And whether you like it not, I'm not leaving this forum.

I don't think the tutorial will ever get completed, because it never really got off the ground very well....

What was posted seemed a bit evasive and incomplete. The topic had some potential but wasn't presented very well at all.

If you're going to present a tutorial about something, you should never tell the audience to go and "do the footwork and detective work themselves"......A good tutorial should explain EVERYTHING!!.........DUH!!....that's why it's called a TUTORIAL!!

I dunno, this whole thing seemed like an ego stroking session for the Topic Starter.

It's interesting to note that the TS hasn't been back to answer any of the honest questions that were asked.......What kind of good teacher or tutor does that?.... Runs away from the questions put forth from the class or students?

This whole thread is a fail......

Christian, I did address one question you had, regarding the thickness of the leather [...]

Yes, you did, and I appreciate it. I will give it a try. What I mean't to say is I haven't learned anything from the tutor yet. And since this thread was hijacked to bring up a topic which would have belonged into a seperate thread, I'd be surprised if I ever will.

Let's not get so negative. I've been scrouging around looking for leather. My Vietnam Veterans Gathering has a golf tournament tomorrow and I plan to hit guys for leather - maybe an old golf bag would work. Maybe their golf gloves could work? I could shake their hand and pull the glove off - then run! B)

Back in the day, I remember using corduroy to get the rolled & pleated effect. Mom really liked me cutting up a fairly new shirt.

The only thing missing to make the fail complete is Mustanglover!

:lol::lol::lol:

Careful what you wish for....the way this thread has been going, his cameo appearance here may not be too far off!!.... :D

Christian, I'm just wondering if you saw Gregg's recent warning regarding swearing on the forum, even fake swears? Not trying to give you a hard time; just don't want you to get in trouble.

Oops... Guess slamming the brakes after passing a speed camera is too late? I did it. You caught me. 1-0 for you.

Children! Children! Let's all settle down and relax a little. What are we going to gain with name calling and accusations? I joined this forum to learn to make better models; to enjoy looking at the different builds of others; and to post my builds. I know mine aren't the greatest, but they're the best I can possibly do. That's all any of us can do.

If somebody should be upset, it's me. I did invent the internet, you know.

With a name like that, someone must call PETA at once! It's high time they get off their high horse.

Hey, at least I invented a lathe for those on a limited budget!!.... [a dremel secured in a bench vise]....:lol::lol::D

Hmmm... How did that old saying go?

Oh yeah!

If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Dave was just trying to help out with leather detailing. If you don't agree with what he has to show, go somewhere else. It's as simple as that.

He showed us his work with chroming. If you didn't agree with what he has to say, go somewhere else. It's as simple as that.

He is trying to make people happy, by helping them learn. If you don't want his help, go somewhere else. It's as simple as that

If you have problems typing fast, you probably need to go to a whole different website. It's as simple as that.

But if you have something constructive to say without tearing someone down, you are more than welcome to add your say.

As for scale asylum, I've seen what people had to say about others here. I just have the courtesy not to spill the beans on your opinions, like the guy who laid into George, but it does remind me of another forum that has the same initials...

I applaud you Jody for your input. You are an honorable person.

See, here we go again with the "poor Treehugger-Dave was beat up and abused", routine....

Come on already......Nobody attacked Dave. A couple of experienced builders asked some tough questions in regards to Dave's bold claims of inventing a chrome system and an airbrush....nothing more.

I think some of you guys are really reading too much into this.
