This was posted at another forum but I have read the details. It's called the 918 spyder concept and it's a hybrid with a top speed of abou 195mph and 0-60 at 3.2 seconds. It was unveiled at the Geneva Auto show.

Totally unexpected, and totally awesome looking car. Makes the hybrid Ferrari look...yuck

How this company can do a car this cool, yet let the Panamera & Cayenne litter the landscape...:)

I saw that earlier on AW, pretty cool.

They also have a Hybird RSR 911.

I'll agree on a couple things here. This car is looking hot. I have not been happy with this company over the Cayenne Or a couple more I wont mention cause I don't want fights but this machine looks really hot.

I couldn't agree more. Another reason I hate the Cayenne is it is the reason Porsche has not had a prototype at Lemans since 1998.

Oh common, Porsche had some dogs with VW and Audi in the past.

BTW the 918 has already been used. Is this Porsche's answer to running out of numbers, recycling them?

Beautifully designed car. I was really in awe when I saw the pictures. Catches some great Porsche's in the design.

I'm sure they know they have a hit on their hands.

Fujimi? Aoshima? Dare I say Tamiya?

I say that cause the newer "super Porsche" I don't know the # is fast and a masterpiece but I just could not dig the lines of it. The flow was wrong to me. It's hard to explain. This looks similar but a bit more rounded.

I doesn't really take much to make a Ferrari look yuke though....just throuhg a Prancing Horse on some remotely automotive, goofy shape and there you go ;)

Don't care much for the Cayenne, buit I do kinda dig the Panamera, then again I kinda have a thing for 4dr hatchbacks ;)

The 980?

Carrara GT

Funny thing about that car is you can't trust any pictures of it. It looks totally different in person.

On a car?? I am not familiar with that. There was a 718. I know how they assign project numbers to every little project and some don't see the light of day or are just a transmission or something but I haven't heard of a 918.

The Cayenne and Panamera are pretty awful but I suppose they want to get some yuppy cash in their coffers.

It was the official internal designation of the 914/8

Aha! I know of both of them but didn't realize they had a type number. You learn something new everyday!

Apparently so, Once upon a time I tried cataloging them all.

You should know by now everything Porsche has a type number.

It kind of mostly makes sense, but then there are some unexplained holes.

There where whole series ranges not used or allocated to stuff never built.

But pretty much all the 900 series numbers were used.

Knoxville, TN is not a hotbed of rare Porsches, but I just saw a Panamera the other day and it's a lot cooler in the flesh than the photos would indicate.

Posted

It still has way too many doors.

I got a pretty good idea what Dr Porsche would say about it.

this is old news..... LOL, but yeah it does look nice, i mainly like the sweet awsome looking interior! thats the coolest part of this porsche concept!

I don't mind the number of doors.

I do mind the fact that it looks like a mis-shapen potato w/a Corvette front end. I wasn't impressed in photos, and in person it only gets worse. Great interior...but that exterior is beyond fugly.

They already did a 4 door 928 (a surprise b-day gift from the guys at the factory), Dr. Porsche wasn't happy about it either.
