MikeMc Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I'm waiting for Zoom Zoom and the facts....I just hope this is true!!
MrObsessive Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Thanks for the link Charles. I too don't know if this is the miracle shot or not, but I may order some in the future and check it out. I also would like to see that video of it in use.
simonr Posted March 9, 2010 Author Posted March 9, 2010 (edited) Guys, look for it at 6:40. This one works fine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=984KU6mwQ5s Another thing, look for it in the rainbowten.com site in the Hobby & Painting Tool section under the WORK brand items. This site functions a little bit different that other but it's a great one, besides, carries a LOT of stuff you guys can't get here. Simón P. Rivera Torres Thanks for the link Charles. I too don't know if this is the miracle shot or not, but I may order some in the future and check it out. I also would like to see that video of it in use. Edited March 9, 2010 by simonr
crazyjim Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Anybody interested in combining an order? Maybe order a few packages/containers and then split the postage costs? I'd like to get some of those baby cotton swabs too.
Zoom Zoom Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I still have not found it on their site. I've done the search. I've found the page with Wave products. Can someone copy/paste the exact product line or number from the Wave products so I can email them for exactly what is needed? I feel like I have to juggle chainsaws while sipping through a straw and rubbing my belly at the same time just to find a simple product
Gray Smith Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Bob, and everyone else, this may help.. do a search under work, not wave.. here is the listing on Rainbow Ten's site Bob 2042020400251,WORK ASSOCIATION,,1500yen,Kosutte Gin San (Metallic Finisher) also for those who prefer to use HW Japan...they have 1 left in stock (had 2 but I ordered one...lol) https://www.hwjapan.com/sh/WOR2513.aspx
MrObsessive Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Bob, here's a screen shot of the page showing the part number of the powder. I went to "Today's Inventory List", and hit "tools and paint-------then the page switched to everything that was listed. I then did Control "F" for Kosutte and it found it. Here's a screen shot of what it looks like on my page.............. It looks like you'll have to email them to order..............I admit this is a bit too convoluted to order something when it can be done simply from their page.
Zoom Zoom Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Thanks! I guess I need to work on my reading comprehension...I couldn't find "Work" and kept confusing it w/"Wave" It's a bit convoluted but it works...I'll see if I can get some this way as it's gone from HLJ & HWJ.
crazyjim Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I sent an email to rainbow ten requesting pricing & shipping to FLA USA. Asked for same on the baby cotton swabs too. I know Japan is on a different time zone so a reply might be tomorrow. I wonder how you pay for the stuff? Credit card?
shucky Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I just placed an order from hwjapan.com. Well see what happens.
Harry P. Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Do I understand that this product is applied by rubbing a powder on with a Q-tip? It's not a spray or a liquid paint? Might be kind of hard to "chrome" some irregularly shaped pieces with lots of nooks and crannies... I'd like to see photos of something like that.
crazyjim Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Hey Mike, I thought hwjapan is out of stock? How did you do an order so fast? How did you pay fot it.
Gray Smith Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Hmm, I ordered one, and it showed one left, now it shows 2..I think it shows how much is left before orders are paid for. I've ordered from them before(also have my Aston DBS on pre-order) they are good people. The fact that they have a regular discount on items is why i'm slowly moving away from HLJ..

Gray Smith Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I can't wait to try this stuff!, I know i've already got like 10 things to use it on
crazyjim Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Looks like I have a couple on order. Need to wait for their email reply I guess.
Marc @ MPC Motorsports Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 IMHO, this stuff may be great for certain application and not so good for others. I use Alclad on occasion as well as Spaz Stix chrome, but for bumpers and large parts like them, vacuum plating is still the best solution. If you take the time to prep and rack some parts, it is not that costly and you know what the results are. I would love to try this Kosutte Gin San, but unless one of the "mainstream" Asian hobby sources like HLJ or HW Japan carry it, I'm not likely to get it anytime soon. I am waiting on Simon and others to try it on something other than a spoon. Then, I'll pass judgement on just how good it is.
SoCalCarCulture Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Interesting stuff - reminds me of a finer version of the old Rub-n-Buff metallic pastes!
SoCalCarCulture Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Yeah, they may have been but worked well for highlights after painting. I can't remember ever having tried to paint over them so not sure.
MikeMc Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Not sure what you mean. The "facts" seem to be that Hobby Link Japan doesn't have it, at least one other source does. As far as how the product works I would guess that there will probably be about as many opinions as there are users, but the photos posted made me interested enough to buy some...regardless of if it's a miracle product or not, it looks promising enough to try at least. After seeing and listening to comments on Bobs Chrome spray test I value his input on a product like this because it looks too good to be true!.......I know he is intrigued by his post.
Tonioseven Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I still have a small container of the stuff from about 6 years ago. I have not yet mastered it but it is easy to apply. I have no pictyres of anything I used it on yet though.
Harry P. Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I still have a small container of the stuff from about 6 years ago. I have not yet mastered it but it is easy to apply. If it's easy to apply why haven't you mastered it yet?
Tonioseven Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 If it's easy to apply why haven't you mastered it yet? Paint is easy to apply but there are those that have not yet mastered it either . To be honest, I just haven't been concerned with it because my initial results weren't that great. (I know, lame excuse!)I'll give it another go and post up the results as soon as I'm able to.
Marc @ MPC Motorsports Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 If it's easy to apply why haven't you mastered it yet? Probably because a spoon, a muffler, or any other broad smooth surface is easy. Anything else is probably a challenge and the results are less than steller. I wish Mr. Simonr would post some pics of some parts other than a spoon that he has rubbed with the "magic chrome powder". That will be the real test. How about a bumper, a valve cover, a wheel?
Guest 85Biarittz Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I know someone who has used it. I sent them a pm to see if they would post some pictures.
