Chariots of Fire Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 For the past few months I've been working on this rig. 1/25 scale and modeled after an actual rig used at Otis Air Force Base on Cape Cod back in the 1950's Engine is detailed under the hood and a second engine and pump are in the rear.
macs_rock Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 That is a NICE truck. Did you scratch build the whole thing yourself?
mackinac359 Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 He scratchbuilt everything. Simply amazing work. ! Tim That is a NICE truck. Did you scratch build the whole thing yourself?
Aaronw Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Wow, I saw you getting started on this but missed a lot in between. I think you have out done your usual high standard of work. If it needs a stablemate I recently took a ton of photos and got measurements off of an O-11A.
Chariots of Fire Posted March 14, 2010 Author Posted March 14, 2010 Aaron: That would be great! I'd certainly put them to good use.
Old Albion Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 A superb build!! Very interesting subject. I see you made the butterfly hood with the piano hinges. I use the ones from Model Car Garages. Where did you get those from? Oh no don't tell me you scratch built them as well!! Many Thanks for sharing this great build. Dave
Chariots of Fire Posted March 15, 2010 Author Posted March 15, 2010 No I did not scratch build the hinges. They are brass piano hinges that I got from Phoenix Model Development in England. Micro-Mark used to sell them but no more. Kind of expensive but they really do the trick. They are on line and readily take credit cards for payment. I found them a good company to do business with.
Aaronw Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 I'm out of town for most of the next two weeks but when I get home I'll organize my notes and photos.
straightliner1 Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 What a knock-out. Inspiring build. Thanks for the heads-up, George. What a beauty! Kinda' makes a guy want to go back to work on a truck.
falcongeorge Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Thanks for the heads-up, George. What a beauty! Kinda' makes a guy want to go back to work on a truck. Maybe I will send you some more Oshkosh stuff, see if I can light a fire you! LOL
Paul B Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 I've seen in progrss pictures of this build and it still amazes me. Very very cool.
