What an amazing race so far!

Schumacher, Senna names that's cool to see in F1 again

Lotus is back and love the paint scheme! Also love the other retro scheme of Renault.

Nice to see Mercedes themself back and with a sweet silver scheme

Sauber with Ferrari :D

COSWORTH!

The Ferrari's look insane this year, still don't like that rediculous shark fin thing

NO KERS!!!! YES YES YES YES!! :)

I think the cars look and sound a LOT better than last year and with the no refueling, dang this is exciting!

Ferrari 1-2! Dang, that's cool to see. Glad to also see Alonso back on top, AND on his debut with Ferrari. :D

What a good race, definetly exciting to watch and brought back some of the things that were missing over the last few years.

I think Schumacher will be a force this year, 3 years off and get's points in first race.

My favroite cars hands down though are the Lotus, perfect styling and come on, that scheme! :)

Forza Ferrari! Great race. Great color schemes and great racers. I hope that Ferrari can keep it going. Should be at the very least, entertaining to watch!

Yes same here. I saw exactly what you just said, I honestly think this season will be great, definetly looking forward to the upcoming race in Australia.

Kind of like old time.

Michael Shummacher racing

To be honest the no fueling is safer, but is less eventfull. They are ###### fast though.

Ferrari started working on their new car mid-season last year when it was clear they had a dog and it's paid off.

Yeah. Sauber-BMW-Ferrari.

It was a good first race. Michael didn't do to bad for a rusty 41-year old, I think he will improve. Ferrari is back, but I would keep my eye on Vettel in the Red Bull. They were very strong until he had header problems. It's going to be an interesting and exciting season.

I am happy to see Ferrari do well again but don't forget Vettel was very fast until his car developed a problem. It's a long season.

Red Bull racing is fun to watch. Sounds like the header design on this particular car didn't make it through as much durability testing as they wanted. First it was above then below. I'll bet we see something change there on both cars.

YES, which is why I like it. I think the no refueling is brilliant, cars just get faster and racing get's better and they are fast and for some reason sound better :D

Schumacher did ###### good! he didn't expect to win right away.

It's going to be good with the tires and fuel, hopefully Bridgestone will redevelop the tires.

Just like Dale said, it's a long season

Yeah. It looks like it might be Vettle Alonos battle to the end.

Thank god, Ferrari is looking good after last year's disaster.

I think Red Bull's major problem is going to be reliability.

They have a very good car but spent far too long in the wind tunnel and not enough time on the track sorting it out. Unlike Ferrari who had done something like the equivalent of 22 full races in preseason testing.

Mark Webber car had a tendency to overheat, made big mushroom clouds at the start or race and they were cutting bits off both cars with a hack-saw during qualifying.

If anyone had they perfect cars it was Ferrari.

Red Bull has a great car but it's not quite relable yet.

Mclaren look strong, but they have straight line speed issues.

Mercedes doesn't have a car yet.

mid pack

Renault, STR, Williams and Force India look about the same as always, but look out for Force India they might beable to challege some of the front runners.

Back markers

At least Lotus finished the race, and did notice anything fall off the cars. It's a miracle because up until yesterday bits were fall off left and right.

Campos, Hispano they just barely made the grid so that was expected.

And Virgin hasn't had much running either.

I don't know. To me they haven't sounded the same since they gone back to V8 and limited them 17,000 rpm.

The 20,000 rpm V10s were screamers, and nothing compares to the V12 Farrari.

It always sounds like they are not going full out.

Posted (edited)

Well yeah of course, no question, you know me Chris! but compared to last year, they do sound better, not as good as the old V8's but the 800-900 BHP 17,500-20,000RPM V10's and V12's will ALWAYS be the best sounding

but you are right, they do sound like they aren't giving all of their potential

I think Lotus has potential and hopefully they can give Senna a car he can drive :D

Good first race.. was up at 6am to watch it (started at 4:30 here, by sleeping in a bit I could fast forward through the commercial breaks).

Good to see Ferrari back in winning form after last season. Looks like Red Bull is consistent w/ last season as far as engine failures :)

Wondering what the unusual graphics on the Ferraris signifies--looks like a bar code or piano keys (IIRC, they had it last year on one of their cars)?

The Lotus paint scheme is great...I like the Williams paint scheme as well.

It was on both cars, and has been there for a long time (1997).

They still have a contract with Marlboro until 2011. That is were the Marlboro name would have gone.

The "bar-code" used to be present whenever they raced where tobacco advertisement was banned. Now it is banned everywhere so that is all Marlboro gets. It will be there next year too.

I was wondering if that's what that bar code was all about. It seemed like a decent race (didn't fall asleep while watching it either!) and that track looked heeeuuuuuge too! What got Dad though was that the track looked glass smooth from the images shown on TV, yet the cars were bobbling around like they were trying the things to drive on some of our frost heaved roadways :)

Yeah, well the new section is very bumpy.

It was great to see Schumi back on track. Vettel looks good. I just wish it was Massa on the top of the podium instead of Alonso. I'm not a big Alonso fan. The race was Ok. There is still not a lot of passing. I liked the Lotus scheme. Sadly, (and this is just my opinion) I thought that the Indy car race was more exciting. Although, with the track/road condition, at times it looked more like an off-road event.

All in all yesterday was a great day to just lounge around the house and watch racing. F1, Indy, and NHRA. I was in Heaven!!

In case anybody doesnt know Vettel's lack of power was caused by spark plug failure not a broken header as was first surmised. It was good to see Shumi back. The race confirmed my prediction that Button will not win any races. He was just lucky last year to get a superior car, reminds me of Damon Hill for the same reason.

I heard that too: that it was a spark plug, which is even more strange. When is the last time you heard of a F1 plug go bad, or any modern car. They have such high output they will just about fire on anything.

Maybe there is more to it and they don't want anyone one to know they used up one of their bullets already.

I thought it was a miss from the first in car they showed. It sounded like it had a miss, though, the header problem was logical also. I haven't watched much F1. Looking forward to Australia.

Is Senna related to Ayrton?

Yes, Bruno is the nephew of the Late Great Ayrton Senna.
