Modlbldr Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Cliffo- These builds are looking great. Good to see someone with your talent going all out. I'm sure I'll learn something here. BTW- That Artist's Adhesive...How did you use it? From what distance did you spray it? It does look dead on to scale. I'll have to see if I can find some. Can you show a pic of the can so I may find it easier on the shelf? Keep it up, Man. It looks great. Later-
nails3825 Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Looking good! I've been keeping an eye on this post, very interested to see how they turn out... you're doing a fantastic job so far! I saw the tip about using art adhesive for vinyl tops a while ago, but never did it myself ~ so far, it seems to be the best technique Your test subject looks awesome! Maybe I'll use it for this '72 cuda I'm thinking about restoring... soon. Keep up the good work!
whale392 Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Yes Cliff........I have been accused of being a bad,bad man before! I love the detail level you are planning on for these builds; you will far outstrip my lowly 'BeeSRT8 build for sure. Also, I have a '67 GTX that I won't tell you about then, and a '63 Plymouth Fury that is meeting up with a Viper for some late-night rondesvous!
Blake Rogers Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Hey Cliffo! Yeah, we Mopar guys have to stay together! I have an AMT '70 Super Bee on the shelf, Testors Metalflake Red with the white trunk stripe, Flat Black interior with Khaki panels and Golden Brown trim, Pistol grip and a 440 6 pack. Really like the "extra" detailing your doing, will be taking notes for a future build then. Thank You for sharing! Later Russ Say, do they still have the beer in the yellow can with the red "x"s on it there??? :P :P that right were like a big family mopar or car guys
Blake Rogers Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Cheers & thanks Brad! I'm kinda hoping these Beez will be better... Brizio, it's great that you're building a Mopar too, but these are 1970 Superbees & they're different to the '69 you're building. Most notably the body shape. Everything else is pretty much the same for '68-70 Bees except the motor's wiring, as from 1970 onwards restrictions for exhaust gases etc meant all car companys had to add parts to get compliance. Here's a couple of pics of the 69 Vs 70 440/6... A12 1969 & 1/2 Superbee... 1970 440/6 pack Superbee... As far as i know these 2 Bees are 100% factory stock restored, by Best Of Show Automotives & these guys are 1 of the best in the biz for restorations.. Cheers Cliffo! god those shots look great nice work they look real..........jking i know there 1:1 the wife said she love the orange color same here but i love that green more so
Jim0205 Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Hey can you show a picture of the can of 3m stuff you got I am interested in it for some future builds.
Guest Sickfish Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Tom, Jim & James, here's a pic of the Adhesive spray.. When i test shot the spray i did it pretty quick & without too much care taken. I sprayed it from about 25-30cm ( 11-12inches ) away & then gave it a quick brush with Testors Black chrome trim. Obviously when i actually use it on the 'Beez i'll be taking alot more care. This stuff is THE BEST vinyl replication i have seen to date! Brian...come on mate...go hard on the SRT8 'Bee....if i can take it up a notch then anyone can Blake...here's the 2 'Beez those engine shots are from...if you want anymore of these, then just ask mate & i'll be more than happy to email 'em to you?? Cheers guys, Cliffo
whale392 Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Now you're making me feel bad Cliff.............you will guilt me into working on the 'Bee one way or another won't you?!
Blake Rogers Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 sure man blakerogers3006@hotmail.com you know cliff i was reading a issue of mopar action last year about a charger or cuda that was done in right hand drive i thought that was cool my question is you guys have alot of old mopars back home?
diymirage Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 that right were like a big family mopar or car guys true that just bought the wifey a 08 charger as a winterbeater and as soon as she starts making money were buying me a 74 roadrunner
Guest Sickfish Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 G'day guys...Thanks heaps for all your great comments, it's really encouraging & spurring these builds onwards.. Matter of fact here's whats kept me busy for a few hours before work this morning.... Got the Hemi's new leaf springs made...i used strip sytrene/plastic rod tubing, u-bolts out of wire & u-bolt connecters are from parts box... Put some primer on so i could check for good panel lines & trim correct... more...
Guest Sickfish Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 While checking my reference pics of a 1:1 'Bee i noticed there was a strip of the chassis missing on the kit's chassis so i added it... Here's the 1:1 & the circled area is the strip i'm referring to.. here's my 'Beez... Can't wait for the stuff i ordered from RBMotion & Scale Hardware to really get going on the rest of the suspension etc... Cheers guys, Cliffo! PS: Blake, i'll email you soon as i can mate..

rustybill1960 Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Cliffo don't get to anxious mate! Your current pace is "AWESOME" the builds look "GREAT!" Your detailing skills are "SUPER!" I am totally enjoying the ride my friend! Thank You for sharing!! Later Russ
Guest Sickfish Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Hi guys, thanx Brian & Russ! Got some bad news, as far as being able to update with pics... Seem's my laptop has thrown in the towel & is refusing to start up??!! Right now I'm using my iphone but can't use it for downloading pics etc because the files are too big & would take forever to download anyway! :-( Work has progressed on the Beez. They're both in primer awaiting final sanding before colour. I've almost finished detail work on the chassis's too & am waiting for all that gear I've ordered so I can finalist the detail work on suspension etc. I'm hoping a mate of mine might be able to help me fix my laptop in the meantime??? If it can't be fixed I'll have to figure out something else on posting/updating the builds... Cheers Cliffo...
rustybill1960 Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010  AAARRRRRGGGHHHH!!!!! MOPAR WITHDRAW
whale392 Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Computers..............###### anyway! I have to go buy one myself now, as the girlfriend will be taking hers back this weekend. Whenever you can Cliff, update the 'Bee thread. No pressure..........I have my 'Bee to keep me company.
Guest Sickfish Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Hi guys, been trying to work out a way to update with pics as I have a "mobile" photobucket account. I've got the pics there but don't know how I'm gunna download them here??? I've been pacing myself with the builds & hope to get all my goodies from Keith Marks, RBMotion & Scale Hardware sometime this next coming week? I've used strip styrene to fill in the rectangle groove under the hood & to replicate the Air-Grabber bolt attachments, using reference pics to make sure I got 'em in the right place. I'm not to far off getting the Beez in paint, just gotta make sure everything in the right place & ready before I do lay down some colour... Cheers Cliffo ;-)
Guest Sickfish Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 (edited) checking to see if I've worked out how to post my pics from photobucket mobile account.... Hell yes!! It worked!!! Sweet!! Here's the air-grabbers! Also drilled out the holes.. Cheers Cliffo! ;-) Edited March 26, 2010 by Sickfish
spkgibson Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 I am liking what you did with the rear springs,They look real,I can't wait to see these in paint,Looking great!..............Steve Ketterer
Railfreak78 Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 In case you wanted this pic again. I used it for detail work on mine. This is the 440-6 in a 70 Bee. Great look at the carb linkage and such. Hope it helps. And a pic of mine. I'm watchin and good luck with your build.
