A little history lesson: This is before they were called Nissans. I fully wired the V8 engine on this one to. I used Testors spraying paint and metalizer for the sides trim of the cab and the wheels. I painted the wheel lettering but some of it wiped off by accident before I took these pictures. The hood is supposed to be black it is not a mistaek.

I scratchbuilt the wood steak bed from parts from another kit and made it look like wood with some tricks I learned and taught myself.

I made the side decals by cutting up some old van declas. My mom broke the antenas off the mirrors so I painted them with metalizer so you cant see they are broke. The sun roof works and I made the window trims with a Sharpy pen. Comments and complemints are welcome.

I realize you are a young guy now. You do very nice work for your age! If I can offer some more advice? Don't use K in custom unless it's really a Kustom. :(

very nice skills. I like the colors and the added details the wood bed is well thought out!I look forward to seeing more.

Thankyou guyz! Sorry but I thought it was a Kustum since it was Kustumized with a steak-bed and a V8 engine and other not stock parts. Look at the exsaust pipes to. How much more should I do to make it a real KUSTUM?

Well, to me a true KUSTOM can only be a car from the 50s-60s that has had sheet metal modifications and special paint job. my term for what you are building would be "street machine".

What you have here is a "custom built" model, to your specifications or likes. Kustoms are much different. Kustoms are cars customized from the '50s & '60s done in styles of that time period. (see example photo)

Don't sweat too much , I know you are young and will catch onto things. Welcome and again..nice job!

So bob, by your definition, these would be Customs, and not Kustom?

You gotta remember, kids nowadays hear the old guys talking about thier rides back in thier day and they want to replecate it, even the name :)

Ok now you got me confuse’d. Are those Vettes Custom or Kustom?

The engine is in the back on one and the body is ‘cutomised’ on the other two. does that make it one of those kind of kustom/custom? I know those are form the 90s not the 50s-60s. And you are wright, I like them.

Isnt’ ‘Kustom’ just a customised way of spelling ‘Custom’? So now I wonder why it is wrong?

those Corvette's are just "customs" or customized

Kustoms, with a "K" is a massively over-used and abused word. much like the rat rod bandwagon, everyone jumped on the "Kustom" wagon and started calling everything and anything custom or customized a "Kustom"

am i going to define it for you guys? nope, because my opinion on the subject and what i define as a Kustom is different than what most people would think. Rodburner gave you a general idea and invited you over to his place for a chat on the subject.

this is the first time i've ever seen confused spelled with an apostrophe :D

Dave

Ok thank-you! But that makes my prespective of "Isnt’ "Kustom" just a customised way of spelling "Custom"?" seem true does'nt it. ;)

Why not? and thanx for trying to explian so clearley.

how do these "look"?

Kamero

Korvette

Schevelle

Schevette

Gymie

Jim'E

Golphball

sellfone

spelling words or names with different letters most times looks "goofy" and alot of times can make you look like you can't spell or maybe even are "uneducated". custom with a "K" has a specific meaning that relates to a certain time period and a select few car customizers mostly from a specific part of the U.S. it's not a generic term or one that i like to see used in that manner. there is a huge difference between what is a custom and what is a "Kustom" ;)

Dave

They look wrong. Like the watress's names at the KFC by my uncles house. They say thier names and they sound normal like but even I know they spell'd them wrong. Or maybe thier parents were not smart enough to spell when they had them. You know it might not be the watress's fault, they might not know they have bad spelled names.

But I think I have seen KUSTOM so long it looks normal to me. I will try to complie. This is like school, but good.

I still cant figure out "Gymie"? and thanx!

Here's the thing guys.

Jimmy, I really do appreciate your enthusiasm for the hobby, and I want to personally thank you for sharing your builds, tips, and tricks with us.

However, please take some time to re-read your posts and correct the spelling and grammar.

I, as most of us here, do not like to see the number 2 used in place of two. For one (not 1), it shows a lack of respect for the English language.

Sure it may be easier to type 2, but it really makes your post look like it was written by someone who does not care about themselves, or others.

This is a public forum, read by many, many, many people, and it is a representation of the magazine.

Same goes for putting a z at the end of words

And finally, yes, a Kustom is generally a lead-sled type of car that has been customized, mild or wild.

As for that Vette, I would say no, but that's my opinion.

This is a learning experience, I would say, and don't take anything said here personally.

Just learn from it, and I can almost guarantee you will be pleased with the results.

As for those who are into slamming, dissing, and basically calling out others, knock it off.

If someone wants to call something something, that's their kuliana.

It's okay to bring up references to point out something, and hopefully it will be a positive thing, to where it's like, "oh wow, I didn't know that!" and all the world is fine.

Okay, I pau....

Good post, Gregg. (Like you needed my approval. B) )

Jimmy,

Pau is not a word, except in Hawaii. :P

I had a kuliana once, but her husband came and got her. :P

Jimmy, Gregg's right; it only takes an extra second or two to type appropriately and legibly but it shows so much more maturity and respect for your audience. Keep it up.

Okay, now I pau ... :P;) >>>> Gotta go brew up a batch of cactus margaritas for the pre-halloweenie barbeque tonight.
