BronzeGT2000 Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I've been a long time Grand Prix lover and I would love to find model kits for them, it would be awesome if I could find a kit from the 97-03 time. Right now I can only find the 1988 Grand Prix SE and I am getting it, but if anyone knows how to go about getting a 97-03 Pontiac Grand Prix please let me know... I'm sure you all know but This is what I would love to find in a model kit... This is my 00 Grand Prix GT/GTP swapped. Thanks
BronzeGT2000 Posted April 1, 2010 Author Posted April 1, 2010 If anyone knows where I could pick up that GTP model with the 3.4 Let me know. I did like the older style as well. Do you think that somehow someone could make a body out of resin to match the 97-03 body style?
jeffs396 Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Welcome to the site Brian! I thought about that very thing when we owned a 98 GT coupe, but sold it a few years ago & forgot about it. I believe there was a promo done of the cousin car the Olds Intrigue, maybe that combined with parts like the fascias from a NASCAR GP body could produce a realistic replica?
BronzeGT2000 Posted April 2, 2010 Author Posted April 2, 2010 Jeff, that sounds like a sweet idea. I'll have to keep a look out... I've tried to make a Nascar model into a street before, but the lines just didn't look good, but If I cut the front and rear end off and put it on a similar body it may just work... Thanks...
Eric Stone Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Did Brookfield ever make one? I know they made street '95-...? Monte Carlos and Chevy Tahoes, Dodge Neons, not sure what else.
JamesW Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Brookfield never made the 97+ GP. I have emailed Revell numerous times with the suggestion, but I'm sure it'll never happen.
jeffs396 Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Here's an Intrigue...don't think they're worth that kinda money, but if you hold out, you could probably score one alot cheaper... http://cgi.ebay.com/1998-Oldsmobile-Intrigue-black-AMT-ERTL-promo-model-mib_W0QQitemZ250605201338QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3a593be7ba

c. jackson Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 g.m. is almost impossible to give permission.
disabled modeler Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Id love to get my hands on 69,70,71,72 Grand Prix models or promos...we owned them once beautiful cars.
MrObsessive Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 The closest one could get to making that era of Grand Prix, might be the 1995-99 Lumina that you can find out there in a promo, or perhaps one of the '00's Monte Carlos as they were all basically the same car. You'd have to do some stout scratchbuilding/modifying though to get the shape of the Poncho. No, you'll never see a kit of that car! Just wasn't popular enough even when they were new unfortunately, and that's a shame as I thought they were good looking cars, especially the two doors. Now that I think of it, there might be and I'm not into NASCAR so I don't know............there could be a NASCAR body of that car out there. IIRC, they did race those.
unclescott58 Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 this post is 6 years old. Others may still be interested.Speaking of models of Pontiac Grand Prixs, I was lucky to get my order into Modelhaus before they quit taking orders, for their resin '67 Grand Prix convertible. By far my favorite of Pontiac of all time. The only year Pontiac offered a Grand Prix convertible. And I love that front end. Looks a bit like the TV Batmobile's. In my eyes a classy looking car.I know the last MPC Grand Prix model was the '72. Which was later modified into the Welcome Back Kotter, Sweat Hogs dream car. I would how bad those dies were ruined to make that kit? For I would love to see the '72 Grand Prix kit come back.
HAC Enterprise Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 I am a NEWBIE Everyone. My name is Harry (61yo) 40 years married and owner of a few 67 Pontiac Grand Prix cars. There is a Ragtop loaded driver, as well as an equally overloaded hardtop. Other cars in my stable are parts donor cars. I will be restoring my excellent convertible driver into a near show piece, but I WILL still drive it! Needless to say, the 67 Grand Prix is amongst my obsessions... Like many of us, I delayed ordering kits from Model Haus until it was too late. BUT, there may be light at the end of the tunnel!I am well connected in the commercial 3D Printing industry, and one would be impressed with what can be achieved via high resolution 3D printing. I am utilizing a $175K printer, rather than a POS desktop model. I would like to work with somebody on this forum to temporarily loan (or sell to me) a 67 Model Haus Kit or Build for purposes of 3D scanning, which I can then get produced as a top quality reproduction. The Scanning process is NON DESTRUCTIVE. No harm will come to any piece that I arrange to be scanned and printed. I have already done this with my 67 Pontiac Bonneville MPC Model Kit. The results exceeded my expectations. I am a resin caster by hobby, along with a 50 plus year hobby of HO Slot Car collecting. My plan is to make very hard promo cars and kits more easily obtainable for those who appreciate those beautiful cars of our youth! Please contact me if you wish to discuss and/or loan me a 67 Grand Prix kit. Thanks to all!Harry
Xingu Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Harry - Technically Modelhaus is still in business (finishing up orders). Coming on here and saying you want to copy the work from one of the most respected resin casters in the hobby is not going to sit well with many folks here. There are currently several active threads on this board discussing just what you are trying to do.
HAC Enterprise Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Michael, Please do NOT read much into my very 1st entry. No disrespect is intended, nor do I have any aspirations to be another ModelHaus. My objective has nothing to do with building or copying for profit. I very much respect the legend that is ModelHaus, and by no means do I wish to convey I can do what they have spent decades perfecting. My objective is to make a kit for my use, as well as possibly for those who have lost out on the chance to get the same car from MH. It appears to me that despite my reaching out via other methods prior to joining this forum, that MH is not taking orders any more. I have had no luck finding a kit for the 67 GP. It has become frustrating. No disrespect intended to anyone on this forum. HAC
