curt raitz Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 I received this model from Raul Perez at the NNL West, always wanted to build it...finally got my chance Started out to build replica of the car Ken Miles drove...but not possible in this scale with this kit So I found a black & white sketch of this car as an "A" Production SCCA race car Modified by adding oil cooler scoop to the front, redid the trunk area, added roll bar support, made intake stacks for the Webers (aluminum tubing), scratch built front/rear jack supports and made the decals. Don't know if this car ran the 4-Webers or not but I think they look cool and the engine in this kit is "BIG" Paint is Scalefinishes "Ford Guardsman Blue", Model Cal Masters "Classic White" and Tamiyas "Chrome Yellow" Enjoy: Thanx for lookin'
Raul_Perez Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Now I know you have elves helping you!! In the little bit of time it took you to get this one built since the NNL West, I've barely had time to sit back down at the bench and get back on track with either of my two builds!! I can't wait to see it tomorrow at the Stockton show!! It looks awesome!! Later,
ricky12 Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Nice job !!!!I always found these cars interesting .
Darin Bastedo Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 (edited) You were off to a rough start, but she sure looks sweet I like the stance the paint and the detailing. while you are right that the webers aren't correct for the A Production cobras it would be fine for one of the modified classes. You model is great, and you should be very proud of it. Edited April 12, 2010 by Darin Bastedo

Thanx Darin, I enjoyed lookin' at the cobras on your fotki site, very usefull information for future builds I have another one of these kits to build, but am thinkin' about just building as a street car w/dual carb set up.
Dragline Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 What a beautuful build Curt. I have had this kit in my hands many times over the years and never built one. Perhaps I'm skilled enough now to give one a go... Where would we get 1/16 carbs and a manifold though???? I'm full of good questions.... Bob
cotto Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Very cool build, the white stripes and the 2 yellow really look nice. I have always liked the style of this body.
MonoPed Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 I really dig the way yours turned out, looks great!! I have another one of these kits to build, but am thinkin' about just building as a street car w/dual carb set up. Here's one I did a few years ago with that setup, along with the air cleaner from the 1/16 Mustang coupe kit:
oldscool Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Wow Curt, that is one of the best Cobra models I have seen in any scale oldscool
