So I just got this in the mail.It was cheep and I wanted to build one to see how they are,the 25th scale models that is.I prefer 24th cause they are usually better detailed factory and bigger.Although this seems pretty detailed.Ideas or opinions on colors or certain tricks for a better build are welcome.myfonepics001.jpg

Ok so Ive got some progress but hit a snag.Ahhhhhh!!!!I hate humidity!I shot my base coat and was shooting my clear and wouldnt ya know it, it hazed.Only two bad spots on the left rear corner of the cab and front left of the sleeper, where they meet.I cleared with dulpicolor clear, my question is could I wet sand this spot out.I know its a paint question but thought Id ask the truckers first.Thnx for any help.

My 6yr old daughter is building this kit, she has done 5 models so far, so I wanted her to do something a little more challenging, and what a small mistake that was,

she built the 1/32 t600 with no problems, and was great for her, but this kit is a hand full, especially with the wheels and some of the fitment, she has struggled, which I have done for her

The only thing good about this kit is the CAT motor, ( there is that C word again) which I stole, chopped up and fitted to a KFS excavator, I have something else she can fit in there

which will more than likely be painted orange or purple anyway........ ahhhh kids

The tires are the worst part of this kit. The tires don't like to stay seated on the rims without the help of a thin bead of superglue.

Tim,

Does this kit have the same engine/chassis/wheels/tires components that were in the Revell 359 Pumper Fire Engine kit from many moons ago? If this kit has those same thin hollow tires, then I know exactly what you mean about the tires and wheels not having positive fitment.

You mentioned a bead of superglue. What's your recommended procedure? Thanks in advance!!

I remember even the old AMT tires drawing in at the beads. I always solved this problem by twisting kleenex and stuffing the tires with it! Worked pretty good! B)

That's a good idea, but if I remember the Revell tires, I know they have the webbing used to sandwich the tires between the wheel pieces, since this was a snap kit at one time. I can't remember if there is a hollow area to stuff the inside of the tires from or if they are solid around the bead. I replaced the ones on my 359 with Italeri Peterbilt wheels and tires from the 377 A/E kit.

Well that small mistake is now holding me up.This was suposed to be a quick build nice n easy for a break from the tri drive but alas, no such luck.I do not have a paint booth so have to paint outside. The blue is Nassau Blue Metallic from testors. Its a base coat lacquer which i didnt know Testors had.It sprayed great even outside. Then I sprayed my clear and well there ya go.

Thnx guys!Well going slowly but this week the chassis should be done and will start the interior soon.Im just going basic on this one so go easy, lol.I guess theres not much to judge yet anyway but...Itll get a little BMF here n there and couldve added a bit more white down low on the hood but I like it.kinda 70s ish, I think.myfonepics271.jpgmyfonepics268.jpg

It's looking good the way it is, Dave. It might have been ok with more white at the bottom, but then again I think it would have also looked nice without the white on the roof and just the white fenders.

Got a bit done today, not as much as I wanted but I had to break out the RC truck n play for a bit and played a little COD4, and cleaned the 55gal salt water tank, and help the guy across the street work on his car....Nice relaxing day. :lol:myfonepics275.jpgmyfonepics277.jpgSo I washed the grill a bit I didnt wanna go to heavy, got a little BMF on and got some brakets added to the sides of the cab.
