Darin Bastedo Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Back when I did the first Barely 'Cuda build pictured below, It was suggested that I have it cast, but due to it's construction and multiple donor kit design it wasn't possible. So I've been tweaking the concept and updating the design so that one donor kit, (most likely the latest Revell Viper) and the conversion parts would produce a finished model. Barely 'Cuda V I'm planning to develop the parts in such a way that it builds like a kit, with the drivetrain, suspension, seats and other details would be sourced from the viper kit. This would be a full detail model and retail between 60-75 dollars. What do you guys think?
george 53 Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Personally, I like it. It looks more like a Shark from the profile veiw, than a barracuda! GREAT styling cues. REALLY like the "gills" Id spring for one.
Tom Jackson Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 I Like it a lot Darin. It would be really killer to see a bunch of these built on a contest table .
SoCalCarCulture Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 I prefer the design of the original, much cleaner! Your profile drawing reminds me more of a modified '69 Camaro, stick with the clean simple look of the original in my opinion.
iBorg Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 The front fenders look too busy. The gills on both top and bottom are distracting. Maybe a single row on top that was two thirds the size. The character line around the wheel well does look like its origins are the '68 or '69 Camaro. In addition the dual side exhausts and the lower panel before the rear wheel well distracts from the billboard of the rear fender. I think the up tick at the end of the lower panel disrupts the visual flow. If you want to have side exhaust dumps, I'd move them to the rear wheel well. Overall I like the design. It just have a few details that I don't care for. It has great potential. Mike

I'm currently working on front and rear 3 1/4 view renderings of it that show it's features better than the side veiw. It might hopefully look better to you then.

The front fender streaks scream '69 Camaro and the rear fenders are too bulged for my taste. I'm guessing that's the Calloway Speedster 'Vette's "glass" shown on the original version? That I like.
dimaxion Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 (edited) I can only speak for myself . Your design is original . It is pleasent to look at . I build Factory Stock only . I don't stray much from this genre . Thank you for listening . From the poles , it looks as to save your money and talent for something else . Thanx .. Edited May 23, 2010 by dimaxion
Wagoneer81 Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 (edited) I really like the looks of the profile drawing, take what you've got and run with it!!! I like the gills, that V-10 is gonna need room to breathe... I can't wait to see the 3/4 views. It's a well balanced, aggressive, eye catchingly original design. We don't see enough one-off designs like this. I'd much rather spend my money on something like this than on the umpteenth release of the Revellogram/Ertl Tri-five Chevy. I'd be willing to pay-to-play to add a unique subject like this to my collection. True, I build mainly heavy commercial right now but I build whatever strikes my fancy, and this design definitely does that! If you produce it, I'll definitely buy one. I'm thinking a darker silver/gray body with lighter silver trim and dark blue stripes and interior... Edited May 24, 2010 by Wagoneer81
