Swifster Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 On the Studebaker front, I just wanted to add my .02 worth. The '50 & '51 Bullets were huge sellers in their day. Studebaker was very profitable from those cars. It was the sleek '53 models that doomed the company (you can look it up). As for doing a '56 to '58 Golden Hawk, these cars were built to compete with the Chrysler 300 and were just as fast. The only big difference between the models was the Packard engine in '56 and the supercharged Stude motor in '57 & '58. If a Stude was to be considered, I think a Golden Hawk would do rather well. As versions of the years not modeled could be brought out with minimal fuss. I'm hoping when the Chrysler comes out that the '56 300B isn't far behind.
Chuck Most Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Has anybody seen this thing out and about 'in the wild'. (I.E., on hobby shop shelves or in stock at online retailers.) Everything I'm seeing says late May, but I'm hoping they'll open the gate just a wee bit sooner. I'm chomping at the bit for a couple of these!

Last word I heard was another 3 month delay because of tooling issues; August or ??? and the 300 not being available until "late 2011".
ra7c7er Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 While looking at the "More pictures" I found a great drawing of the Chrysler 300 as a mythical Touring Car. Great concept, I really like it. I may have to build something like that....just for jollies. Did you post that car on the artwork tab???....I don't recall seeing it. Not so mythical actually. They do exist as touring cars. Here's a pic of one

GGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR..... Well, on the plus side, I do at least have two of the Lonestar kits on layaway at my local shop!
Zoom Zoom Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 GGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR..... Well, on the plus side, I do at least have two of the Lonestar kits on layaway at my local shop! Meh, doesn't bother me, I knew when they started they were never going to make their intial target date (last Xmas), and I'd rather they get it right than let it out with issues that can and should be fixed. I have plenty to keep me busy until it gets released
Chuck Most Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 I have plenty to keep me busy until it gets released I wish I could say that. I have that disease that makes it impossible for me to build any of the 400 kits I already have on hand until I get the new one I've been waiting for.
highway Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Not so mythical actually. They do exist as touring cars. Here's a pic of one Interesting pic, makes me kinda wish I hadn't gotten rid of the extra 300C kit like that I had, but about 50 years too new for the Moebius late 50s era car that the kit will be.
Dr. Cranky Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Chuck, you are not alone in that feeling. I look at my wall-of-kits and feel uninspired. We always need fresh blood in the Lab-RAT-ory to get CRANKING on new CREATIONS!
Dave Metzner Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Second test shots are en route to me now.....if we can stay on schedule kits ought to ship from factory Mid July... that means kits on shelves mid August - C300 ought to be about 45 days or so later... if we don't have schedule slippage.... it's harder to make predictions on C300 as we're still tweaking a revised mock-up of that body!
trey allen Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Not so mythical actually. They do exist as touring cars. Here's a pic of one Revell Germany 1/24 touring car kit, plus a 1/24 Chrysler 300 kit, uhhhhh....wait.

Dr. Cranky Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Great news indeed, Dave. Getting it right is important! We'll be waiting.
Chuck Most Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Now, if I can find a way to order a caseload of 'em at a deeply discounted price! (I'll put them all to good use, I promise!)
Chuck Most Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 One will be built as a lead sled. One will be built as a Bonneville racer. One will be built as an abandoned junker. One will be used as a base kit for a Hendrix resin body. One will donate its Twin H I-6, which will sit behind one of Jim Pelosi's resin '37 Terraplane grilles on a rat rod. And those are just the first five uses I've concocted...
highway Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 The Hudson Hornet is another one of those 'bout timers'! The test shot looks awesome. I personally can't wait to buy one and NOT build a 'Doc Hudson' with it! What you got against Doc!?!?

No, that's five kits, four of which will get built, and the one that donates its engine might end up as some kind of turbine powered apoacaliptic ride.
Eshaver Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 (edited) This car screams to be a part of a diorama ........... Ed Shaver Edited June 26, 2011 by Eshaver
