Greg Myers Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Very impressive. One can really put the detail into those lager scales.
Teds57 Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Awesome Job so far cant wait to see more of this one
Dr. Cranky Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Beautiful, you have to finish this one, buddy. It's a must. What a bunch of great work you've already done.
Model Junkyard Posted September 3, 2011 Author Posted September 3, 2011 Hello guys. First of all I want to apologize for the long absence. I moved to a new home (besides all the furnishing I had to lay a new floor), we had our first child and we find our selfs in the middle of the startup phase of my wife's business. All in the last few months. We, my wife and I, are proud that we survived all this without trouble but a few things were left behind, such as this scale model. A few weeks ago I finally could pick it up again, so here I am. Here you see a few details of the block and the wiring. As you see on the pics, I used 2 types of wire for the wiring. A thinner brown wire and a thicker black wire cover which I pulled over the brown one to simulate the plugs. I also decided to build in more detail into the carburetor and air filter This way I can remove the air filter as real. I'll be weathering the engine soon. I'll keep you posted.
Dr. Cranky Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 LONG LIVE RUST. You are creating a great foundation with all these details. Go, man, go . . .
Beavis Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 intense detail my dude, seriously awesome work
Greg Wann Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 That is really cool! One of my favorite cars. The kit companies keep pumping out all kinds of hardtops but never any convertibles, I just don't get it!
62rebel Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 gawrsh... what devotion and attention to detail. (humbled...)
David G. Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Thanks for the update. I'm glad to see that you're still working on this one. Your level of detail is awesome, I can't wait to see more. David G.
Model Junkyard Posted October 10, 2012 Author Posted October 10, 2012 Hello guys, I'm back, after a while. I've been having some motivation issues with this project. But it's close to be finished soon. After painting the body, I've been doing some weathering and details. Here a few pics... I painted one matt brown layer first and two red layers on top. I wet sanded all the body with 1200 grit sand paper mixing rust powder in the water to get a superficial rust effect with minor rust holes here and there. I hope you like it!
David G. Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 The engine looks awesome and the body looks great. I'd love to see more pics if you have them. Thanks for the update. David G.
Model Junkyard Posted October 21, 2012 Author Posted October 21, 2012 This time it didn't take that long for coming back with an update on this one. Here you have a few details of the engine bay. Here is the complete result: A few details
W-409 Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 That looks fantastic. I like the work you've done into this build. Especially the engine detail looks impressive, and rust is very realistic too. I like where this project is going, more pictures, please.
gray07 Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Awesome detail, your doing a great job, one thing, is there away to show how you done the roll up windows. Keep the updates coming, Awesome
Fender Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 I love the 57 Chevy junker thing. I had to post a couple beaters I did about 15 years ago. They look better all the time now. They have been sitting out so long they have a nice layer of dust and cobwebs. I like what you're doin with your kit. I have the Model Car mag that has the roll up windows in it. Is that how you did yours? Anyway- I am look ing forward to seeing the kit as you do it--Nice!!!
Model Junkyard Posted March 31, 2014 Author Posted March 31, 2014 Hello guys, thanks for the feedback. I should have posted the result a long time ago. I decided to put the car inside an old TV... I don't like traditional acrylic display box ;-) You can read more about the process here
the goon Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Truely outstanding. Great idea for the display Mark
