Dave Mikrut Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 I was unhappy with how the wheelwells turned out on the first go round. It took me a couple of years to ponder this and I took a crack at re-doing them by grafting in some stock wheelwells and re-radiusing them. I am pleased with the results this time.
E St. Kruiser50 Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Love your custom Dave - All the body work goes nicely together, and the color really fits the car, and looks great. Leaving the top the stock height is SOOO COOOL . Great job Dave - THD
Harry P. Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 That's almost unrecognizable as a '49 Ford! Nice custom work...
bsoder Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Well a couple of years is a lotta pondering! but it looks well worth it!
Bernard Kron Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Simple, cooly elegant, with nice tasty details. Love the Lucas beams, the Dodge grill and the rear fender treatment with the nice tailights and exhausts. And, of course, who can ever object to Studebaker 'caps!
ARTEMIS1759 Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Thats some good work. Little bit of history on a side note. The reason some cars were sectioned like this with a stock height top by customizers was to give them more of a european look.
stevegt738 Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Sectioned shoebox Fords look good, and this is a great example, well done.
Greg Cullinan Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 This is sweet.Everything is right on the money.
Steven Zimmerman Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 PURTY good lookin,Bub!...All your mods work together well,it'flows' !....'Z'
62rebel Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 nice job; my favorite kit! that's a '51 Chevy grille, cut down, not a Dodge.
Sixties Sam Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Great custom! I like the taillights and exhaust tips. The Chevy grille is just right, as is the whole "look" of the model. Very good work! Sam
Dave Mikrut Posted July 9, 2010 Author Posted July 9, 2010 Thanks everyone for your encouraging words. I just wanted to add a couple of photos, the engine, a parts box assemblage and the Thunderbird interior which fits in like it was made for it.
crazyjim Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Terrific looking build, Dave. I like what you did with the taillight & exhaust and headlight treatment.
David G. Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Excellent body work. It does have a European look to it, almost like a Ghia design.
rustybill1960 Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 awesome sweet build Dave! glad to see your still building! got one in the stash Thanks for sharing later russ
Starliner Kustoms Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 That is very sharp! I just started an old shoebox convert. but I have no idea which direction I want to go. I like this look though.
