935k3 Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 An interesting video about the AMG SLS Mercedes. Is it real? Probably not but it sure looks cool.
Zoom Zoom Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Total fake. Why do you think they didn't show the entire "roll" without changing cameras/positions?
slant6 Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 (edited) Anyone ever play the game Rollcage on the PS1, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xwgRsi2VDg, I know it doesnt show it,but you can drive up and walls and around tunnels loved that game, wish they would make an updated version. Also done in M.I.B., the first movie, Ive driven !alot! of Mercedes, and they are excellent cars, but not a chance that car can do what it does in that video. Believe me, I would have tried it if I thought I could. Still love the video though! Edited July 13, 2010 by slant6
Modelmartin Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 (edited) That is so obviously not real. What is interesting is that Daimler Benz does have a test track with a banked curve that goes vertical sort of like the Wall of Death motorcycle stunts. I have seen pictures of various M-B on the track but the most frightening one was one of the buses! Here's a link. Oh my God! Oh my God II ! Edited July 13, 2010 by Modelmartin
Draggon Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Jeremy Clarkson did it in a Renault and didnt need all those German engineers nor any of the funny photography! http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r23944172-video-Top-Gear-Jeremy-Clarkson-Corkscrews-Sewer-Tunnel
Modelmartin Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Jeremy Clarkson did it in a Renault and didnt need all those German engineers nor any of the funny photography! That was cool but it was sort of a controlled flip that landed on the wheels. It would have been really awesome if he had been on all 4 wheels all the way around!
sjordan2 Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Mercedes acknowledged that the video was for fun and used CG techniques. Beautifully produced.
2002p51 Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 An Indy car generates more down force than it's own static weight so, theoretically at least, you could do this with an Indy car. But standard production street car? Not so much.
