Johnny, that is great news!!!! biggrin.gif I hope things continue to improve.

Oh BTW, a question for you & Matt; though I'm not a truck driver, am I a member of the "brotherhood" by default, since I used to build/paint Freightshakers, (Freightliner to the uninitiated), for a living? wink.giflaugh.gif

Yes you are mark, as far as I am concerned! Anyone who built them or helped keep them on the road are part of the trucking world! I'd like to leave dispatchers out but you how that goes. They are a necessary evil!laugh.gif

Update for today. She has showed more improvement on her right side. She walked 250 feet with a two minute break to catch her breath at half way with a walker and physical therapist!

Her speech seems to have stayed the same with no real change. The doctor said her rehab will take at least a year to reach her full potential which he guesses at a little less than 100% but sure she will be able to do most of what she would normally do. But he has suggested that with all her other health isues and now this she should concider retiring on to disability. She doesn't like that idea but we will have to wait and see. Odds are after her short and long term disability from work runs out they will most likely let her go anyway.

They are fighting with the insurance to keep her in at least two weeks for in hospital physical and speech therapy. Then at home or out patient three days a week.

That is about all for now, oh except after the teasts the cardiologist says he believes her mechanical heart valve may have triggered the stroke by holding a small clot. e said she will have to have it replaced within the next couple years with a newer design that will allow her to get off of the blood thinner!

Same in my book, Mark, and especially Freightshakers! I just love my Freightshakers, and have a soft spot in my heart for a nice Classic XL!

Thanks for the updates, Johnny, and I'm still continuing to think and pray for you and yours.

Hi Johnny,

I've said a prayer for my fellow modeler. Best of luck towards a speedy recovery.

Well they say they plan on sending her home on Tuesday! They will do evaluations on Monday!

They have her walking with a cane instead of the walker and she has most of the use of her right hand back with just muscle aches in her right arm.

Her speech is really coming along good and they say in time she should get all her ability to speak clearly back. But say she will have to speak slower to do so! She can deal with that she says!

They are really impresed with her determination and drive. All the top people have been interviewing her and they say she has been an inspiration on the whole group and they have seen several that were at a stand still starting to progres again!

My wife argues that it is their own doing but even the others members of her stroke group say she has helped them!

She said to thank all who sent out prayers and good thoughts for her and she believes that your prayers are what gave her the help to recover so well!

I have to agree and I thank all that have been so supportive in this trying time we have faced!cool.gif

That's fantastic news! The power of prayer is indeed a strong one; I know it worked for me. Several years ago, I nearly died from complications after two major surgeries, and the doctors didn't think I was going to make it. Well, I'm still here! You and your wife will continue to be in mine.

I may be new here but I know what it feels like to go threw this with someone you love.

I will add her to my praying!

She was even happier today! They took her off mechanical soft diet (we call it pre chewedlaugh.gif ) and put her on regular meals!(minus salt)

I have included you good people into my evening prayer every day since this thread has started.

Hey, none of us can tell whether there is a God or not, but I sure hope so.

Well! She will be released from the hospital today after lunch! Doc signed the papers last night.

She has to do a final round of physical and speech therapy, one more talk with the psycologist and then eat lunch while the therapist watches. If all is still good she is out the door!

She will have home visits from the therapists until I am released to drive then she will be outpatient!

She has been a little depressed at times. Comes over like waves. They said it is normal after a stroke and that hers were delayed compared to most probably because she was working so hard to get better and was progressing so fast. But now she has slowed down in recovery process and they say that is why she gets depressed at times. But they gave me things to do when she gets in a funk!

She also has shown unusual mood swings that were never there before. That they say may be permanant and is also a part of the stoke damage done.

I can deal with it and we will be fine. As long as she is well and home that is all I ask!smile.gif

Johnny,

The power of prayer is definitely at work with your wife as displayed by her recovery. I am sure she will continue to amaze the doctors and herself with her progress as she seems like a determined woman!

Keep the Faith and we will all be here waiting for your updates. I am certain that you two will work hard in your therapies and be able to look back at this year as God's way of testing you in many ways.
