Mike Lomaka's Amerivette and Italivette artwork in the latest issue of MCM reminded me of something that's out there on the market: The Rossi SixtySix Corvette, based on the C6. As for me, I like it. Others hate it. What do you think?

Except for that brake light in the rear "spine," I think it's very cool! B)

BTW... there's no prize for "changing your avatar the most times"...

Considering that it doesn't make me retch, it's amazing. Most people go way too far with "retro". Seeing what people are doing to the new Camaro to make it look like a '69, that's the kind of stupidity talent that makes me retch. Adding retro styling cues to a car like it's a Mr. Potatohead without any consideration of elegant proportions, well...so far they universally look amateur.

I like most of it, but I don't like the middle of the car/bodysides. The character line bows upwards making the car look a bit "banana", they could have tightened up that line to be a bit more parallel to the ground; it's not fooling me, the car will never have the "Coke bottle" shape I think they were trying for. Everything else seems reasonably "professional" grade. I love the front end.

The headlights and the third brake light kill the design. I do like the body style mimicing the 64 1/4. Just a little more work and I think they may have something

Harry, I got an idea. Think you could whip up a couple of photoshopped images based on those? Remove the spine mounted brake light, make the bumpers look like body colored urethane, (I like them, but the the chrome effect distracts from the overall appearance), & see what can be done to clean up that front end, as it does look too busy.

B)

I could.... but I won't.

I like it just the way it is. The chrome bumpers are part of the retro theme. About the only thing I think is badly done is the placement of that third brake light.

It is mostly successful except for the nose. It is too busy and seems to miss out on the theme. It needs the flip up headlights like the original had. The rest of the car is surprisingly good.

The flip-up headlights would've been nice, but what's there isn't too bad.

I actually like the treatment of the third brakelight, it's a unique, interesting approach to what can be a styling/design royal pain.

If the 3rd brake light has to be where they put it (ugh!)... at least make it the length of the spine, and use a translucent smoked gray lens over red LEDs...

or else put it where it belongs:

Definitely version 2, which has the perfect curved shape and looks like it was made for the car. To me, the original looked like an afterthought.

Version 2 for sure.

I'm not digging the door line like Zoomy said. I don't know what I'd do but that and a small tweak to the front would work for me.

I'd like to see the old style front with the headlights buried.

Oh well I couldn't afford it anyway.....................

I like it in concept but not execution. They got the details of the 63-67 vette right but it's laking the core shape that made those cars look right. the central body line needs to be flat all around the body. If they want a wedge shape they can tilt it foward, but bending it spoils the over all look.

What made these cars look so good was the way the shapes interacted with each other. you have to do some refinig of this body's shape to replicate that interaction on these proportion. The designers of this bdy would do well to study the shape of the original Bill Mitchell Stingray.

Just shows, when you look at the same car design in a different angles: the front 3/4 nose/headlights) pic looks heavy...& a bit overstyled: hidden headlights with front "edge" (a la C2)_+ blackout grill would haved look much better,

but rear 3/4 pic very, very, nice.

With all the "Retro" design craze going on...GM designers not already putting final touches to a design similar to this one for the upcoming next generation Vette ...Wonder what late, Bill Mitchell/Larry Shinoda would think :D

My thoughts exactly!!! Those front headlights look like nothing that a Vette ever had, and in my opinion, make it look to Camaro-ish.

I wouldn't kick it out of my garage .I also think the front could use some decluttering. If I saw one on the street I would probably think it is the cooloest thing in the neighborhood, but looking at it on the computer it is really easy to be nit picky.

The grill and headlight layout... not so good. Other than that, I like the design. Third brake light is irrelevant as a deal breaker.

Ah, but "the devil is in the details"...

kinda looks like the one on transformers 2 only reason i remember that car is that it was shown in sceans thea megan fox isnt in LOL

That is sweet! Are you looking Chevy? Go this way, not the other directions I have been seeing for the next Vette!!

The front looks awkward and clunky. As for the CHMSL, I think its a viable solution. It would especially work if the car was red.

Ironically, the Iso Grifo had 2 completely different front ends...here's the other....

As for the Vette? All I can say is that I wish they copied the Iso Grifo a lot more closely. Doesn't work for me...

Interestingly, the Iso Grifo was sort of a Corvette under the skin:

The car got a light facelift that made it less aggressive but turned it into possibly the most elegant-looking Gran Turismo (GT) supercar ever produced. This “street†Iso Grifo GL received the fast, modified but reliable Chevrolet Corvette’s 327 V8 (5.4 L) engine—either in 300 or 350 hp—coupled to a Borg-Warner 4-speed toploader. These engines were ordered in the US, but were completely taken apart and blueprinted before they were put in; as they did with the Iso Rivolta GT. With over 400 horsepower (300 kW) and a weight of less than 2,200 pounds (1,000 kg), the vehicle was able to reach speeds over 275 km/h (171 mph).
