If you want an accurate Ecto 1A, I suggest you check out the link below. This link shows you the real screen used Ecto 1A and not a replica someone made up. It has a few interior shots as well as a detailed roof. You can also find other reference shots for Ecto 1 thanks to the guys at www.gbfans.com

Here's the link for the photos of Ecto 1A http://www.gbfans.com/equipment/reference/18/

Hey Brian, were you aware the ends of the white tank are on the wrong sides? You asked why no one let you know that, so I just did!!!:lol:;)

Very small update. We have been getting hit on and off with Monsoon storms the past week and a half so it's been way to humid to rattle can anything. I finally had time to mask and paint the red stripes on the sides. I let it sit for a couple days and it's not to bad. The BMF will cover most of the areas that are a touch over. Here is the mock and I'll add pics tomorrow of the final hopefully with some bmf done. DSC04366.jpgDSC04368.jpgDSC04365.jpgDSC04367.jpg

I can't wait to see how this one turns out. I have one of those kits in mothballs - always wanted to build it as a stock ambulance.. I think it would be a nice model. Yours is looking really good though. please keep those photos coming.......

UPDATE 7/30: Ok so here are the pics with the fins painted. I do need to clean up a couple spots but for the most part they are good. Also came out smooth. I did start the bmf today and wow does this beast take a lot. I have one side done around the windows. I still need to do the trim on the fins themselves and other details and wrap around to the other side. I did get my grille wash done. Might need some touch up too. I am happy with the progress so far. I also was lucky enough to get the ends switched back on the big white tank so I can hook it up right. More to come and Enjoy! Nice work that you've done on this. I've always wanted one of these to build as a slightly customized ambulance, but I never did get one. If I were to go that route (slightly customized ambulance), which kit would be better? The original or the newer kitted version?

For those interested, I saw a very clean 1:1 71 Olds ambulance today. I may stop back by to take photos of it for a future build using the new 72 Olds kit.

Nice work man.I love those movies.Got me wondering on the digital roof sign?Check radio shack they may have a digital readout screen or something to get that to really work.Even if its just a clock display would be cool.Don't work to hard I wanna see this done.LOL

Looks good, Brian. I've always thought this would be a fun kit to build, and it looks like it is.

Thanks for posting the pics.

Thank you all for the kind words. This is fun so far and I hope to get a lot more done today. I am not sure which one would be good for a custom. On this particular kit you would have to cut off the message board sign supports and fill in the roof rack parts the legs sit in. It wouldn't be hard. Maybe there is a kit for the first car. I think polar lights did one of these too so maybe it has some smoother roof tooling. Thanks again everyone ;)

Nice job so far bro.

Heres a tip though unless its too late. Open up those clear bar lights and put a color matching(according to the movie) dot in the bulb area to simulate the light bulbs. It will make it look way more realistic :) .

Thanks guys and Kevin thanks for the reminder. I have not glued the light bars and direction bars at all. I have to do all the detail paint on the roof rack. The lights are just sitting there and not glued together or to the rack. As well as the Directionals are sitting. That way I can take them all off and finish the bmf and then decals and then Future. Thanks guys :D

Also maybe lower the rear a tiny bit because all that junk on the roof is heavy even for a hearse/ambulance suspension. If i remember right you can drill a second set of holes in the rear for the axle to fit through. Or you can modernize it and toss a air ride system in the back and put the tank and compressor in the interior :D .

Here is a small update again. I finally got the bmf done and fixed a few spots that I was not happy with. I was hoping to have the decals and a clear done by now but at work we have no hot water heater and the old decals did not want to come off the paper. I have a camping trip planed this coming weekend so now I will tackle the decals and start the interior next week. This is only the second car I have done bmf on and I know it's not perfect but I'm happy. Enjoy and thanks again for the comments and to Artisticndn and Danno for reference pics. Yeah, Brian, for being only your second BMF attempt, it looks good! :D

Don't apologize for the BMF or anything else, the car looks great so far! The best thing about doing a TV/movie vehicle is that it is as important to portray the spirit of the model than it is to be 100% accurate. When your build is done I want to see, just for a second, Dan Aykroyd standing next to it. I want to be remember the movie, not whether the model is a curbside or not. That is what you are accomplishing so far. Keep up the good work.

Bare metal foil is a whole art form in itself!!! Your foil looks good on the car, and great decal placement and the roof rack is coming along nicely. I think this model is super challenging! There is a lot of body work and painting, then you have a detailed interior with computers and equipment inside, and then there's the roof with all kinds of "ghost busting" equipment with lights and lightbars! Whew!!! Ecto 1A is not an easy model! There are tons of details if you want it to look nice. Great job! Keep Going!!!
