I built this one way back when Lindberg first reissued the L-700 with the trailer and '40 Ford, and molded the whole mess in dark gray plastic. I used the back half of the trailer for the truck's platform, and strecthed the chassis with new rails made from Plastruct C-channel. Not quite up to my current standards of detail or build quality, but I still like it! ;)

The F-350 was painted with the same can of Orange, just over gray plastic on the Dodge and white on the Ford. But the Ford's a story for another time!

Pretty cool looking little truck. Always been disappointed with lindberg kits, but this one I found has some nice detailed parts.

Nice one, Chuck. I like it as a flatbed. I've seen lots of pics of real L700s as flatbeds, but rarely tractors. Nice job.

Nice job, Chuck. I find it odd that yours was molded in gray plastic, though. I bought two of the same combo when they hit the shelves, and both of mine were molded in white. You must have gotten a really early run!

The WalMart editions of the kit were molded in a funky gray color.

Tim

Uh, Tim, I bought both of mine at Walmart, and they were white.:huh::unsure:

I think this one came from Wal-Nut, and I bought a second one off e-Bay which was gray, but all the others I've bought at hobby shops were white.

I got 2 at the same time ,one white ,one gray. The white one had a ton of flash, the grey hardly none, but badley warped. Are the new ones with a tank or dry van any better?

Oh,great build Chuck

Very nice Chuck, I am going for a similar look, except a stake side instead of a flat bed. I just wish there were more reference photos available for the truck. I did find a decent site showing a restoration, but they swapped in a Cummins diesel from a pickup, so not many usable engine shots.

I'm building one that was sold as just the tractor, I didn't know they were eventually going to include it with all of their trailers. Anyway it is white plastic with very little flash and I haven't noticed any warping so far. I've heard that Lindberg used the money from the first batch to clean up the tooling, I don't know if that is true or not but it could explain why yours are so different. I have the tanker too, I can check and see if it looks like the one I am currently building.
