John Teresi Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Hello......another older build......thank`s to "Model Cars" forum I can share some of my older stuff......I bought this original MPC 'Dyno Don" Eliminator Cougar f/c from ebay......this was one of my favorite funny cars of the 60`s.......and I had this kit as a kid.......I have been trying to collect and build most of the models I had as a kid......wired and plumbed......H.O.K. kandy apple red.......the decals were shot except for the roof sides.......I was so up set about the decals because when I put them in the water they fell apart.........well I decided to airbrush and hand paint the hood and trunk using a yellow and red and orange lace pattern then I went over that with various colored pens...... I tried to match the roof side decals that were good.......well I was happy with the results.....but wasn`t happy when I found out that slicks was making a repo of this decal set......oh well.....has anybody used a set of slixx decals for this kit?.......how did they work?
k.blackwell Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 who needs decals when it turns out this good! excellent job! Cheers. -KB-
Ben Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Wow! I bet that was tedious! But a beautiful job as always!!!!
Danno Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Wow! John, another incredible build ... knocked it right out of the park! Beautiful.
bigmikevee Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 (edited) Hey John, Wow, looks great, a little creativity and a few pens just turned out too sweet, good job!! Know what you mean about the models from when we were a couple of years younger..ha ha. Don't even want to think about the models that disappeared along the way, I also used to keep a binder with color pictures that I got out of Hot Rod magazine, I ended up with probably 180-200 pictures, wished I had them now, me & Dad would make our monthly trip to the store for Argosy mag for him, and Hot Rod for me. A good memory. Dyno Don was a true legend, you did a wonderful job, and as always, thanks for sharing with us! Mike Edited August 16, 2010 by bigmikevee
W-409 Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 WHAT A PAINTJOB!!!!! This is looking very nice, your skills are awesome. Great engine detail and that chassis looks very good too! These Mercurys weren't so popular in Funny Car in those days...
Smart-Resins Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 If I didnt know any better, I never would have fathomed it to be hand painted and drawn! What a beautiful job on a beautiful car!
Railfreak78 Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Very nice work on this John. The paint is so clean and the car looks right. I do have a question. Did those wheels come with the kit?

Chuck Most Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 I've never seen the Slix decals on a model, but with results like what you got- I'd say why bother!
Terry Sumner Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 John, Saw you on TV again last week I think it was on that Hot Rod TV episode. Good ambassadorship for the hobby you did!
