CharlieBravo Posted February 9, 2019 Author Posted February 9, 2019 (edited) ok lets revive this after 7 years! It's always something I've been tinkering with, collecting parts and ideas here and there, gaining more knowledge on the rigs themselves and the hobby itself.. After all this is one of my ultimate builds, as in this is probably the biggest goal i have in my modelling sights - The 'BJ and the Bear' Kenworth Aerodyne in 1/25 Cummins slowly coming along; I scratch built the cylinder head and the plumbing, but i am about to re-do the plumbing with stretched sprue to get cleaner lines I think..? The kit (Revell) comes withe twin turbo so i had to modify down to single turbo, I had engine/turbo parts that someone sent me long ago and not even sure what kit they are off but have used the turbo from that kit. I have also used from that kit the bottom part of the cylinder head also. Great Dane Reefer - needs plenty of mods to get it similar the Bj trailer which is a Brown 40ft Reefer; had to re-position side door; I thought the best way would be to basically cut another door out where the new one needed to be and then slide that part down into the original gap for the door. will need lots of putty and special attention but we got this will be using evergreen strips for the extra ribs needed, all just dryfitted for now; Rear of the trailer needed some serious mods; original; Great Dane trailer modding wasn't too bad as it's just cutting and filing away excess really; cheers for now Edited February 9, 2019 by CharlieBravo

CharlieBravo Posted February 9, 2019 Author Posted February 9, 2019 Putty time. Man I hope this works out...might take some time and patience I think. One thing that is not correct in either the Revell or the AMT kit is the dash. It is not an Aerodyne Dash, I believe what is represented is an older Kenworth flat top dash? kit dash; Aerodyne Dash; So, dauntingly, I have no choice (and because I want to) but to attempt to build a new dash so stay tuned this could go real bad real quick;

I will be putting pics of my build up as well when I get started on it. Pics below are from Paul’s rebuild of the number 3 Bear rig.. Edited February 10, 2019 by DrKerry

DrKerry Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 I have a post in the real trucks section with all the pics of Paul’s truck. It may be messy but will be nice to be more correct to the real deal. I’ll have to watch as you do yours so I know what to do on mine!
Yahshu Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 Looking good, the race is one to see who'll get their dash done 1st. Whoever wins has to cast it for everyone else.
Force Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 I'm intrigued that no after market guy has done a correct Aerodyne dash yet, the AMT Kenworth K100 Aerodyne kit came 1979 and the Revell Germany kit 1982-ish, so they have been around 37-40 years...and both the AMT and Revell kits have the wrong dash and all issues have allways had the wrong dash. Of course the Revell Germany kit shared everything with the K100 flat top and the roof is the only thing different, but I think the Aerodyne kit came first, so it should have had the right dash as the Aerodyne got this dash when it first came out in 1976 with the Bicentennial Edition.

I agree, I have reached out to Jan at Czech model and he wasn't aware of the dash issue until I had told him. He has it on his list to do but sadly not a priority right now he told me as he has other projects on the go. So I have no choice. Have you noticed that the old 1/32 Monogram/Revell has the correct Aerodyne dash? I have a couple in my stash.
CharlieBravo Posted February 11, 2019 Author Posted February 11, 2019 What I do need is the AMT seats as the Revell ones are incorrect for the BJ rig. If anyone has any they are willing to part with, I'd love to hear from you, cheers
Force Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 (edited) Auslowe has them, with the KW "bug" emblem, Item Code: Seat1, the photo is from Auslowes Facebook page as there are none of this seat on the shop page. They also have these seats without the "bug" emblem for one that don't need it. No I have not seen that, I don't have any 1:32 trucks as I only work in 1:24-1:25. Well you can get your measurements from the 1:32 dash and scale them up when you do the new dash for this build. Edited February 11, 2019 by Force

DrKerry Posted February 13, 2019 Posted February 13, 2019 Found out after looking into mine that the Papa Truck also has the seats in it! They have the KW logo on the head rests.. also, if you get those dashes cast I’d be interested in one!!

These seats are wrong for the Papa Truck as it's a Bicentennial Edition wich had fabric upholstery on the main part of the seat, but right for the Hideout Truck, the Movin On truck and of course for the BJ truck.

Are the ones from Auslowe what is in the BJ truck?? That’s what I was getting at for the BJ Truck is that the type from Auslowe are in the Papa Truck.. These... borrowed the pic you all posted..
Force Posted February 13, 2019 Posted February 13, 2019 Yes, the BJ truck and the Papa Truck/Hideout Truck are from the same tooling and seats with this diamond pattern and KW "bug" are in them. The Revell AG K100 seats are different with no diamond pattern and the Revell AG W900/T900 has the same diamond pattern as the AMT ones but no KW "bug", same goes for the Revell snap W900. I don't know if the Auslowe seats are a direct copy of the AMT seats but they look a lot like them, the seat base looks to be from the Revell AG kits as the AMT kits has a different base.
