Chuck Most Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 This is just me using the awful R&R casting procedures to my best advantage! The cab was short shot (short poured?), had many thin spots and air bubbles, and the parts didn't fit very well. I decided to not fix these things, and instead use them to contribute to the model's worn-out, crusty demeanor.
george 53 Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Chuck, ya made a sows ear outta a sows ear!!! Ya know this truck(Or at least one that looks similar) IS available in plastic. The '67-'72 and '73-'79 generations were similar, structurally, to one another, but had totally different 'skin'. In fact, the R&R kit appears to be a modified AMT ''73-'79, including the incorrect (for the '67-'72 version) later interior!
charlie8575 Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 You did a nice job using what you had, Chuck. Good work. Charlie Larkin
bigmikevee Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Hey Chuck, Your formula....One poorly made model, add abuse + rust = one great model! Wow, I discovered your secret recipe!! Mike
Chuck Most Posted August 30, 2010 Author Posted August 30, 2010 Hey Chuck, Your formula....One poorly made model, add abuse + rust = one great model! Wow, I discovered your secret recipe!! Mike Sorry... one bourbon, one scotch, and one beer is my secret recipe!
george 53 Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 An maybe one of them weird little MEDICINAL cigerettes!!!
Chuck Most Posted August 30, 2010 Author Posted August 30, 2010 always thought it was cool that they key was a big 'ol flat blade screwdriver I knew a guy with a '67- his ignition key was two wires dangling from under the dash! The old 240 six wouldn't boil the hides, but it was still running like a top when the cab mounts got rotted out so badly the cab was actually resting on the steering shaft!
John Teresi Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Chuck.......very cool......I would love to see you whole collection sometime......very impressive.
von Zipper Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 That came out Fantastic !! as always-Great Job !
bsoder Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Well you might not of had a great kit to began with..but the results are just right!
Jerred C. Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I am really surprised nobody has asked this yet, but what is that raw umber colored thing in the bed of the truck. You done a really good job at this one. I really like your weathering. BIG J
Casey429 Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 A very poor attempt at a Bumpside on R&R's part, but a great piece of work by you, Mr. Most.
Space Cowboy Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Hey take it from a guy that used to own a 72 F 250 with a 390. You have built it as close as anyone could with what you had..That is the best beater i have seen..
