Ben Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 If you ever built a fort...in your bedroom... out of empty model boxes. If everybody who enters the house is required to see your latest creation. If spackle IS just as good a putty. If putty can be used to make any part, no matter how big. If ALL your painted models are either testors gloss black or dark blue - from the little bottle. If your latest model went Salvador Dahli after you left it by a lightbulb to dry the gloss black paint. If the entire decal sheet goes into the water at once and ALL of are used EVERY time. LOL, I like that last one!!!
Ben Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 If you've ever wanted to buy the "orange tube" but mom said you had to buy the "blue tube"..........you might be a young model builder.
Jon Cole Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 If you ever left that model you just finished on display in the rear window shelf of dad's car, only to find it as a melted mess.
Draggon Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 If the Hobby Shop wouldnt let you buy a tube of glue without your parents!
Chuck Most Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 ... if you've ever used a crayon to 'paint' a car. ... if you've ever wiped old paint off with nail polish remover, then wondered why the body kind of flaked and split apart. ...if you've ever used that brown, runny glue for paper with the rubber applicator on the bottle to join parts.
george 53 Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 If you ever used a Q-tip and Black liquid shoe polish to paint a model, you might be a young modeler! (Hey, it worked!)
GrandpaMcGurk Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 (edited) I loved the smell of Testor's tube glue. I also love the smell of gas. And of course I love the smell of napalm in the morning... Yeah buddy, but that's a no, no. Foo Gas or Willy Peter is probably more your style.........oh poop, think I just had a flash back. george 53 Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Hey Don, if ya even KNOW what Foo Gas OR Willy Peter is, you probably ARE a young modeler!!!!
GrandpaMcGurk Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Hey Don, if ya even KNOW what Foo Gas OR Willy Peter is, you probably ARE a young modeler!!!! Yep.
wferrisok Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 If your allowance ever went towards models & supplies, you might be a young model builder. My $2 a week allowance was well spent on model cars..I was outraged when the price of model cars went over $2 because that didn't leave me enough for that Sgt. Rock comic I had been eyeballing. My Mom always wondered how I stretched that $2 that far, but then she also wondered why she never found change under the sofa cushions any more and why there didn't seem to be as many returnable pop bottles as she thought there should be
disabled modeler Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Boy does this all sounds too familiar....., I'm glad I got better at building and learned a few things
Greg Cullinan Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I am getting a lot of good ideas from this thread !! Boy does this all sounds too familiar....., I'm glad I got better at building and learned a few things
1955chevy Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 If you ever used corduroy to upholster the interior of your model. I did
Foxer Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 (edited) If you love the latest Nissan Altima TV commercial, Devil in Disguise, ... you might be a young model car builder. note.. models here.. I added a link to it. Edited September 2, 2010 by Foxer
Mr. Moparman Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 If you ever used black crow feathers to flock your car...then you might be a young modeller
Tonioseven Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 If you ever visited the makeup aisle of your favorite store looking for the right shade of nail polish for your next model... I do that weekly! Lol!!
highway Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 If you ever thought that the Testor's Paint Sticks were the coolest thing ever cause it didn't ruin your .39 cent paint brushes...you might be a young modeler. *come on over 30 guys/gals...you remember them. Shake 'em up rattle-rattle-rattle, then push the applicator point down repeatedly till paint came out* Yep, I remember them, and they are still around! I don't know if Testor's is still selling them, but I seen some in the model railroad section of my LHS for scenery and rolling stock weathering. Conversely if your current un-built kit collection features a more varied and deeper inventory than the three closest hobby shops combined...you've grown up into an adult modeler! GUILTY!!! VERY GUILTY!!!
vettecote Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 If you ever used black electrical tape to tape two slicks together to make one wide azz slick....then.....Joe
Jon Cole Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 If you ever used black electrical tape to tape two slicks together to make one wide azz slick....then.....Joe Like this one! I didn't build it, and I'm not going to restore it. It's too cool as is!
