AZ Boy Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 This was a labor of love. Can't remember if I ever saw this car in person, but always loved the innovations built into it. The body is a combination of Super Shoe with JJ front and rear clips. Wheel bumps extended to the headlight bezel with styrene and putty and lots of patience. Shoe approves! Aaron
1320wayne Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Stellar build, Aaron, as to be expected from your workbench. I have a huge list of 70's era funny cars to build one day and this one is on the list. Now, seeing yours done gives me the ideas of what needs to be done to the front end.
Len Geisler Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Aaron, Stellar build, I have one in the works also, started body mods with new front and rear panels, and opened the roof.....I really need ot get back to it, but after seeing this one, not sure it is worth it...LOL....
David G. Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 I remember this one from Wide World of Sports on the Sunday afternoons of long ago. Excellent work, and thanks for bringing back some fond memories! David G.
Modelmartin Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Love that car! You did a great job on the model. It looks great. Did you use the Revell frame? I have a half-started one in my pile of stalled projects. I used an MPC frame because I think it looked closer to the actual frame.
W-409 Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Awesome job on Vega! Great pluspoint for using H-Body car! Exellent, that painjob looks perfect, decals are very nicely fit and engine detailing looks so nice. Frame, it looks very very good too! Keep these coming, please!

I lowered the driver's cage and raised the rear axle mounts to get the car as low as possible. I still think I should've had it at least 4 scale inches lower in the back, but engine position and clearance became issues at that point. Shoe did point out to me that the engine should've had a more forward placement. Perhaps that would've solved the body height problem. Aaron
oldscool Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 That is out -freakin-standing! I remember what a step ahead that car was when it was brought out. oldscool
Hondo Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Aaron, again that is "off the chart"........ Cool photo of "da Shoe" with it. Nice work !!
